A very busy week of boxing starts tonight with the Love Child against K9 on WNF. I am amped for the HBO triple header on Saturday as all should be full of in your grill action.
WNF K9 has turned his image around with the Contender, so much that I think some don't remember his 22 second Shobox debacle against Sechew Powell. I bet against him as a 3-1 favorite in his last ESPN main event and just missed smelling like a rose on Chris Smith with a SD loss. I wish I could get a Julio KO prop, but instead I played the under earlier on the fight as I think Joel Julio will stop him in the middle rounds. I am still not sold on Julio as I think a quick handed boxer will always give him trouble and I was very disgusted with him performance against Rivera, but he will test Bundrage's chin tonight and I am betting that it will crack.

Still not overly sold on JJ. He's nice, he has surprisingly heavy-handed Power in both Hands, but he can still be out-boxed, or out-thought. But he does have enough Voltage to be dangerous through-out, even if/when he gets out-boxed again & trails on the score-cards.

Light night tonight (Way too much chalk)

Tony The Tiger Thompson is a bit up in Weight. You know I like a left Heavy like T2. But weight gaining Heavie's make me nervy. Al.Dim has gained a little bit as well; but he needs to fill out (muscle wise I mean). Al.Green is still having Colon problems, might could be a factor (again; like in the EM bout) 2nite. I'm still catching more about Gatti getting upset. HTH's.

Plays for tomorrow along with the long shot parlay continuing.....
.50 of a unit under 7.5 rounds (+110) in Cintron-Matthysse 1.65 units on Margarito (-110) vs Williams .25 of a unit on Margarito wins inside distance (+230) .55 of a unit under 6.5 rounds (-110) in Duddy-Furlan
Like I said in another thread, I am not convinced that Williams can fight going back effectively and trust me he will be backed up. I am tired of hearing about all the sparring gossip, I think the rugged experienced pro shows Williams a thing or two tomorrow and he folds late. If a completely unskilled Walter Dario can clip Paul on a few occasions, in my mind Margarito's constant pressure will do a little more than that.
I still want to play Gomez, but just can't pull the trigger. I keep having flashbacks of him going toe to toe and struggling with Jesse Feliciano.

Hope everyone will get to enjoy the fights this weekend. We have the long in the tooth, Arturo Gatti, taking on the Contender Gomez. I have to say right off the bat that I am not a fan of Gatti's skills (love his blood and guts) and think he has been very overrated for his entire career. He appears to be very shop worn, but in truth, he always appears that way! The difference is now he is not landing the come from behind power left hook that takes him from defeat to a win. With all of that said, I like Gomez even less then Gatti at this point. Gomez has fought bums, and struggled with Feliciano, whom I think is a step below Gatti. Gatti has a huge experience edge and if you are backing Gatti the ten round limit is a blessing.
BOXEO BETS: Gatti -180
We also have the much-anticipated Magarito/Wiliams fight. This could turn out to be a barnburner. Williams is a freak of nature for this weight and has showed solid skills in all of his bouts. Margarito has been around for a while, and showed some wear and tear against JC in his last fight. In fact, if JC had not hurt his hands, he would have been crowned the new champion.
Now, a defeat to JC is nothing to be embarrassed about, JC is a very good fighter, but Margarito took a ton of shots in that fight and Williams is much faster the JC and throws a lot of punches. This is probably a simple case of Margarito being forced to get through a series of combinations in the hopes of getting to the ample body of Williams, trying to break him down. If Williams can take just a small step back as Margarito comes forward he should be able to pick him apart all night long. Margarito has a decent beard, but he is very prone to cuts. If Williams cannot drop him with a series of shots, he may still stop him with a slice on the eye.
I feel Williams should be able to use his huge physical advantages (southpaw too) to keep the plodding Margarito at bay.
BOXEO Bets: Williams -115
Also, the former king of the ring Roy Jones Jr. is back in action against Hanshaw. We all know RJJ is faded and a shell of his former self, but I think this is a pretty decent spot for Roy to shine. Hanshaw is moving up in weight and had trouble making the 175-pound limit! I never like when a fighter is moving up in weight and has trouble making his new weight class limit. Hanshaw has also fought a slew of nobody's. The halfway decent guys he has fought… he has gone the distance with! I like RJJ to shine in this fight and basically just put a whoopin' on him (see his bout with the prince)
BOXEO Bets: RJJ -220
Just a side note, I think a small wager on WM against Cintron might be worth it. Cintron showed zero heart with Margarito and if WM can hit and hurt Cintron, you never know if he will fold again. WM has fought nobody (Williams is the best fighter he has faced) but he does have power and with Cintron that might just be enough!

These three fighters make for a great win parlay tonight at almost 2 1/2 to 1
How can anyone type out this kind of analysis on the makeup of an athlete ?
Margarito will shine tonight and so will Cintron. GL everyone
Do you actually watch boxing?
Gatti has ALWAYS been overrated. His wins over Ward do not make him a great fighter!
Margarito is a plodding type fighter. Does he box and move like Mayweather or does he come straight forward after his opponents? Come on... it's not that hard dude! Just because he walks forward and has little defense does not mean he is a bum.
Cintron showed a ton of heart against Margarito... Wow I guess I missed that!
I tell you what, let the other members of the boxing covers team chime in (FB, Always, Big or anyone else) and lets see what they think of my off the wall, outrages, out of this world remarks. In fact, if they all agree I am a fool, I will NEVER post my picks on this board again.
Let the jury deliberate!

I do now like Cintron. He seems to have exorcised some the the outta the Ring demons that seemed to loom in&around him in the past. This week he actually seemed a bit happy. Never seen that b4 from him.
AM vs. P.Dud has the potential to be awesome! It's a coin flip to me. Very close one to call. I lean by the narrowest amount to the younger guy (PW). But who knows?
Gatti is in vs. a bigger guy. Look what Baldy did to him in the same size disAdvantage situation recently. It' s so much that Gomez is all that, he's not, & he's tended to be beaten when stepping up. Gomez is a pressure fighter, & that style reads all wrong for a fading Gatti to me. Gomez has never been beyond 8. That could be a factor, as any Distance would seem to favor the wildly popular Mr. A.C. himself, AG. Again; tough one to call. & I can listen to both sides. I'm gonna fade AG JIC.

Don't play in to this playground crap, man. You know your boxing, man, and you don't need me to tell you that.
There'll always be critics. Forget 'em.
I really like reading your stuff. Am just getting in to betting on boxing, so your inputs have helped me pick up some knowledge.
Cheers
Clay,
Thanks for the props. The real reason I posted my comment is because I am only here to try and contribute to the success of the covers boxing team. You will notice I said team because this is one of the better boxing boards I have found. The guys really try to help one another and explain why we like x fighter or x play. When we fail (we all do) there is no I told you so, and when we win, (we all get lucky sometimes) there is nothing but props from the gang (you know who you are) if however, the consensus of the team is that my analogies are nothing but garbage, and I am not contributing to the overall success of the board, I will gladly sit back and enjoy reading others picks and not muddle up the board with my rubbish.
