CFL 2024 Preason - Week 1 (Only 1 game in week 1)

WPG finished in 1st place in the West Div and SSK finished 4th out of 5 Western teams in the 2023 regular season.

WPG lost to MTL 24-28 SU in the Grey Cup last year in Hamilton. SSK did not make the playoffs.

These 2 teams met 4 times in 2023. 1 preseason game. Score SSK 28 @ WPG 16. They would play 3 more times during the 2023 regular season. Week 2, WPG 45 @ SSK 27. Week 13, WPG 30 @ SSK 32 (OT). Week 14 (h/h Banjo Bowl series) SSK 6 @ WPG 51.

Last year SSK beat WPG in OT in SSK a week before the Banjo Bowl and then WPG took care of business at home winning 6-51 playing that stringed instrument all the way to the locker room.

Once again these 2 teams will meet 4 times in 2024. Week 1 of preseason and again in weeks 7 @ SSK, week 13 @ SSK and week 14 @ WPG. Another (h/h Banjo Bowl series).

Both teams went on to lose their next games the following week. This year both teams will have a bye week, in week 15, following their (h/h Banjo Bowl series).

Interesting note, week 15, Western teams WPG, SSK, EDM all have bye weeks and week 18 Eastern teams TOR, OTT, MTL all have bye weeks and week 20 WPG, SSK, EDM all have bye weeks again!

Last year, teams coming off a bye, did really well ATS. Slushie007 probably has the #'s.

SSK vs WPG last 10 years. SSK vs WPG @ SSK 6-6-0 SU. SSK vs WPG @ WPG 1-9-0 SU. I will be looking to back WPG week 14 @ home vs SSK and to continue to play that stringed instrument all the way to the locker room. Especially if SSK beats WPG the week before. (Labour Day Weekend).

It was unfortunate for SSK when Trevor Harris went down with an injury last season. It basically ended SSK's season. I am expecting bigger things from SSK this year. Good off-season moves! Harris will be back playing QB for 2024 season. WPG lost some key players but retained the ones they needed most.

WPG gets a preseason Bye week 2 and SSK gets a preseason Bye week 3.

WE are still about 3 months away from Preseason week 1, May 20th.

Regular season Week 1 the season starts with Thursday Night Football MTL @ WPG and Sat night SSK @ EDM.

The HAM@TOR Preseason Week 3 game has been moved from Saturday June 1st to Friday May 31, 7pm EST.

Coach Mike O'Shea said full time QB did not make the trip to SSK.

Back up (fan fav) Chris Streveler will get most of the snaps for this 1st preseason game to start the 2024 season.

Sad news Adam Bighill will start the season on the 6 game injured list.

This guy is basically the QB for the defence.  He will be missed especially for game 1 of the regular season vs MTL a repeat from last years grey cup.

I doubt any book will hang a line on this preseason game.

WPG opened up -1.5 total of 41.5 we now have SSK -1.5 / 41.5

I agree with that move.  Mr. O'Shea is a coach who uses the 1st preseason game to evaluate players.

Winning is not a concern.

SSK won last year @ WPG 28-16

SSK's new Head Coach will want to get this early win just to get off the ground on the right foot.

Put this franchise back on the map!

I agree with the move and somebody moved that line in a hurry.

I will start the 2024 preseason with,

SSK -1.5 points for the full game.

For WPG, QB rotation, 1st string Zach Collaros will not play!

2nd string QB, Chris Strevler, will start.

3rd string QB, Eric Barriere.

4th string QB, Terry Wilson.

For SSK, QB rotation, 1st string Trevor Harris will start.

2nd string QB, Mason Fine.

3rd string QB, Shea Patterson.

4th string QB, Antonio Pipkin.

5th string QB, Jack Coan.  I do not see this guy getting any action today.

Now here is an angle.  WPG back up QB's saw almost no action last season, once Streveler leaves the game, everything goes up in the air.

SSK back ups have had lot's of playing time because of the Harris injury last season in week 5.

Now they did not play very well, lol, but they do have more experience.

I am surprised Sask line is so low.  Seems like easy money but that is the catch...   when it looks a certain way, the opposite happens. Hence my low bet of $9.3 which would be equivalent to $5 last year - THANKS TRUDEAU!

Ya the stream is a bit choppy.  At first no audio but things are working good now.

365 has removed the game after it started.  They do this, that's why you have to get your bet in before the game starts.

It is pre-season.  So why not go for it on third down?  It isn't like you really care if you win the game.  However, I guess the kicker needs to be evaluated too. 

I guess 3 point is better than 0 points considering my extreme wager....

I guess the audience isn't privileged to replays.   Too bad. 

I would have liked to  see if that was no yards since I looked at a hummingbird at my window when the kick happened.
