I got slayed in the CFL last year..I think I went 0-4 then called it quits.
I expect better this time around.
I'm looking at this BC Lions vs. Winnipeg Bluebombers game...
Bombers lost starting RB Chris Garrett to injury today in practice...two backups are solid backs, but both rookies and judging by Paul LaPolice's interview, they are not ready to step in and play quite yet. Not saying they won't prove this statement wrong, but I'd take my chances on a prop that they don't combine for 75+ yards.
Winnipeg will be forced to throw the ball.
These two teams have a bit of history, meeting in the Grey Cup last year.
Anyone have some input on this?
I think the total of 52 is too high, if I see it drop at all before Friday I'll be all over the under...
The CFL is a league where the passing game needs to be set up by the run game. 2 downs can really fuck you over with an incomplete pass on First and 10.
I'm about to watch TSN CFL Preview and may be back to post some thoughts after I watch that.

I didn't know that Garrett was out. I'd say advantage Lions, because if there is a weakness on that d, it's run defence. They upgraded their secondary and their pash rush is about the same, but they lost Soloman Elimimian and are forced to start Adam Bighill at MLB, although that could change if he under performs or they decide to go with a non-import at safety.
That being said, I think the Bombers will be more jacked than the Lions to play this game. Lions have a history of slow starts, although they are under a new head coach. Having Geroy only 67 yards behind Milt Stegall may play into Winnipeg's advantage, with Lulay possibly forcing the ball in.
So hard to call. These week 1 lines look tough.

BTW------I don't have an opinion on that BC total. I think the Lions easily cover this game . I guess your hoping for a lopsided take time off the clock score. I see you bet the Under

I don't see Winnipeg scoring more than 14 pts...so if the Lions can stay under 38 I think we will be ok

Thanks fellas, nothing better than watching the Lions put the hurt on Winnipeg.
I know the CFL referee's aren't too biased, I think this group of had the under....
Still amazing how this game almost crept over the total, that is CFL football in a nutshell.
On a gameplay note...
Winnipeg's defensive line really impressed me today, but their linebackers + secondary is skeptic. Also, Winnipeg may be blessed with good field position this year as their special teams has some potent kickoff/punt returners.
B.C's running back Andrew Harris is looking GOOD. I hope this kid stays healthy; as a rookie last year he did impress. I actually had the pleasure of watching him play alongside a friend of mine a few years back when he won the CJFL championship.
Best of luck tomorrow folks. I wish there were more numbers to look at for the match up tomorrow. Line movement says Argo's, but the Roughriders proved that line movement doesn't mean much in the CFL. Might as well flip a coin...Argos or Eskimos

Great analysis on last night's game. Wish I could have been there, but was in different area code.
How do you feel about tonight? I know movement is on Argos, but Toronto lost a lot of pieces in the secondary, has basically an entirely new (and apparently weaker) oline... does Ricky Ray compensate for those losses? I think Jyles is better than people give him credit for, and he gives the Eskies a running threat, which is something people haven't seen in Edmonton in a long time.

Joose,
beautiful day here in the lower mainland...rain rain rain and I wouldn't ask for anything else.
I was doing some research last night and...turns out....
Kavis Reed, the Edmonton Eskimo coach, is 6-1 versus Ricky Ray.
The one loss came in their first meeting.
Here is a link to the article
With that...
Edmonton Eskimos ML (+103) 100 --> 103
Last year, Kavis Reed had this Edmonton Eskimo's team fired up to start the season. They were a "discombobulated" group according to most. They proved the nay-sayers wrong.
60% chance of rain tonight...maybe some thundershowers...either way, beautiful night for some football in Edmonton.
Let's go Eskimos.
Also, if you got an extra 25 bucks kicking around your respective book, parlay the Eskimos ML and Brian Baker ML in Wimbeldon Tennis Round of 16...This guys a horse, I've been riding him for the past two rounds. Right now he is sitting at +170 on my book, its likely this line drops.

If I had to play something it would be Edmonton 2H but only if a gun was too my head. The way Toronto strips at the ball there could be some bullshit turnover at anytime....I do think that Edmonton is moving the ball effectively enough to put up 10-17 points this half which should be enough for the win and possibly the second half cover.
