No problem guys. Let's keep this run going.

Hopefully no one had Iona at more than -1 because a Siena half court heave @ 0.00 with Iona up 4 ended that as a 1 pt win. Disgusting and pushed my Iona bet. A huge night ended up just being good.

If Iona gets a team that can guard the three in the NCAA tournament, they are dead meat.

Stee, hope ya hit that teaser with the other legs.

Good job, buddy. Way to come back strong. I think I'll be taking a break for while. Been doing too much capping and too much jawing with idiots on covers (it just makes me feel dumber when I do that). Should have had a 4-0 night in the NBA but I will take 3-1. Denver was up by 19 with 5:30 to play and they did not cover. Jokic was ruled out due to illness and the line went down to 10, but when I recommended the play it was -12.5.

Scal why would you ever play -1? It makes no sense, why not just bet the moneyline? Figured someone of your knowledge and experience would agree, but maybe not?

3-1 and you're taking s break!!!? I looked in the NBA forum earlier yesterday and didn't see a thread.

Besides the Warriors, I've never seen you lay a dozen and a half in a game. How they didn't cover is not beyond me because you just explained it. 

Cavs had to have the wind knocked out of them yesterday with a Bogut going down. Even after the heat showboated all over them in the first of the back to back, they swept em anyway. Getting Bogut and losing him immediately has to be a severe psychological impediment going forward. He's not chopped liver.

Kc - I think you're getting confused with +1 as most guys leave that number on the table to grab a +100. You shouldn't buy off of -1. It's a push or win spread. You can't lose with it and it is very rare to have a cap decided by exactly that amount on a side.

Yeah, you are right on about Bogut's injury causing the air to gout of the building: LBJ said as much. Meanwhile, those who picked Miami are thinking they are geniuses, not understanding how an injury like that affects a team or changes the dynamics of a game. There are also idiots in that forum who think the Rockets got lucky to cover as 4 point dogs even though they were leading almost the entire game (ahead at the end of each quarter and up 6 with 3 minutes to play) and the Spurs needing a superhuman effort from Leonard who had one of the most amazing two way games you will ever see in your life (check out his stat line) and his defensive highlights, after playing in back to back OT games where he played a combined 84 minutes. And yet these people claim it was the Rockets who got lucky. They know nothing about basketball: NOTHING. I don't know how you deal with these fools, but more power to you.

BB, just know that most of these idiots are most likely college students playing with their student loan money they will never pay off.  Keep it up.  Most of us who come on here for good banter and insight click on your threads for a reason (as we do with scal's).

Wow. Just saw the stat line....and you're telling me he blew them up defensively too. I was watching the Iona game but this was a barn burner. Glad you got took the 4. Lucky....yeah sure....

It's AN angle and you have a good memory but here's the worry:

I've said many times the Lakers are not tanking.

Well, just like a team at halftime you have to adjust.

Now, the Lakers ALMOST CERTAINLY are officially tanking, especially after getting rid of Lou, the ONE guy who covered for us vs the Blazers a few weeks back. If the Lakers land in the top 3, amazingly the pick is STILL a protected. If they stay in the top 2, they have >55% chance of keeping the pick. 

Therefore, especially with the internal family turmoil, you have to think they are tanking. That doesn't mean they can't win since PHX is two games ahead of them (which leaves room for "save face" wins, the only wins a tanking team will get).

All in all, you can't trust the Lakers to win any game (but they won't lose out obviously) the rest of the season unless you have a ridiculouslay good angle and this one falls short of that. Just my opinion!

I had Iona -2  


Man they are a sloppy team. I mean, I guess I was fortunate even to have a shot to cover considering, but that was a gut-punch.  I also had South Dakota -1 who blew a lead and missed front end (up 1) and gave up a game winner with 1 second left. LOL.  All good though, many have gone my way in the same fashion.

Awful awful awful. Did he really think Iona would defend a shot with 1.6 left? Calling that time out you know Siena will get that chuck. And chuck it they did.

Iona is incredibly flawed.

Get a team to defend the 3 and they'll be crushed in the tournament. This was their weakest team of the 5 straight finals. Really looking to see who they are playing come the brackets. You saw it for yourself: sloppy and disorganized.

Great pick, happy to see you hitting your stride with the tourney coming up.

I know you usually stay away from top teams, but what is your take on Kentucky? 

I see tremendous value with them to win the SEC Tournament at +100. I can't see any team being able to match up with them; especially on a neutral court. Would love to hear your thoughts.

This is Vermont's best squad ever: 16-0 in conference. 18 game winning streak. Singular goal to win the conference championship after last year's upset to Stony Brook and here they are.

Having said that, I just can't in good faith lay almost 10 here although I'd be shocked if Albany won outright. That would mean the Honoring the deceased angle, in part, for a player and a team, has carried over almost two weeks. Nichols 6-23 performance last game is scary in this regard. That is Nichols morphing back into the star of the team without that extra layer of motivation, which is needed more than ever. Perhaps it's there but I read every article I could find on this game and it wasn't mentioned once in passing or quite.

I don't see Vermont losing but I don't have interest in laying this number so I didn't post it. And if I can't see Albany winning, I only really look at number >=10.5 to consider getting inside the spread without a win.

So Stony Brook just lost one of their star softball players this week to brain cancer.  How does this motivation play into your scenario?  Both teams have someone to honor, and for SB it is one of their own.  Not a relative
