How about G-Mac? Helped bring a national championship to Syracuse, won two Big East titles, one completely by himself with his 3 pointers (ask Cinncy and UCONN about those). He's first all time in the Big East for 3's made, and 6th in NCAA history. JJ could shoot too, but G-Mac won more than JJ ever did.

Rice had size, a high release and the ability to squeeze it off quickly. He was perfect with the 1989 Michigan team because he stretched the defense, and his teammates could step into the openings.

7. Salim Stoudamire, Arizona, 2001-05: 342-747 (.458)
Stoudamire wasn't the prettiest of jump shooters, but he was very efficient and unafraid to take the big ones.

8. Ray Allen, UConn, 1993-96: 233-520 (.448)
Allen took smoothness to a different level. In fact, his smooth footwork, rise and release could lull you into a dream state. What a great player.

9. Allan Houston, Tennessee, 1989-93: 346-817 (.424)
Houston was what Dell Curry would have been with the 3-point shot -- absolutely dead on. Houston was his team's only real killer threat, and he faced entire defenses geared to stop only him. And he rarely seemed to sweat.

13. Jason Kapono, UCLA, 1999-03: 317-710 (.446)
Kapono had size, an unorthodox release and a goofy-looking headband, but the guy could bang down shots. He simply knew how to play, and that has made him a valuable asset in the NBA.

Lofton, pre-cancer, was one of the best contested 3-point shooters I've ever seen.  Redick in his prime was another deadeye, but I'd have to give my vote to McAlarney if it's this year alone.

You guys are missing the greatest 3 point shooter and scorer of all time. Pistol Pete averaged almost 45 ppg without a 3 point shot. When Dale Brown and others went thru his old game films and charted what would have been 3's under the later rules they found that Maravich would have AVERAGED 57 ppg.The only chance Pete ever had tom shoot  a 3 was his last year wearing a knee brace and with the NBA long three in 1980. He got to attempt 15 3's before his knee caved in totally. The rest of these guys arent even close. By the way he made 10 of them.

Oh, by the way Pete had to create his own 3's since he had no other offensive threats on the team.He didnt sit out on the perimeter while Price and Dalremple would penetrate and leave a
Dennis Scott and others like him square up and shoot. There is simply no comparison .

No one mentioned the wiz from LSU, who was making 3's long before there was a 3 point line, and when defense was in style, and he still scored 40+ a game.  Pistol Pete.  I saw him about 12 times in college and in the pros, and there was none better who could score and pass, and make the game exciting.
