I actually grew up in Lake County up north, but have been in Chicago for last 10 years until they tax me outta the state.

I paid cash for a house in 1985 in Hoffman Estates..., I was 24...It recently went on sale and the property taxes are $7000...And this house wasn't anything special..

 

I'm living in a 10x better house now, with 20x the land and my taxes are $1700 year
