Both Northridge and Pepperdine suck, but there is a key to the gameplans. Northridge returns just about everyone and brought in Landon Drew to run the point (Hawks coach's son). Northridge will play zone more than likely against a Pepperdine team that will be one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the country. Pepperdine lost their top two scorers, and best interior defenders and they were beaten by Northridge at home last year.

I think Fordham is the right side but if Fordham continue's to play a zone, then Texas State is going to bomb away at it. Just a scary proposition.

Would point TCU as well, just not sure I can trust Trent Johnson going against a weird style, but they have had plenty of time to prepare for it.

I dont know what Purdue has coming in, but from what they have coming back, they appear that they will be strictly a jump shooting team.  No Hummel and no Jackson means they will probably shoot more threes than they did a year ago.  The stat that jumps out to me is that Bucknell was #1 in adjusted offensive rebounds against.  In other words, they didnt allow a lot of second chances.  The one thing they didnt do well though was create turnovers and Purdue took great care of the ball.  I would lean Bucknell but wouldnt feel great about it.

Neil,  can you give some insight into why you are leaning George Mason?  To me, Tony Bennett is one of the most underrated coaches in the nation and he'll be going up on of the most overrated in Paul Hewitt.  I know Virginia lost Mike Scott, but Bennett always seems to get his teams to play with high efficiency.  The line is down to -2 at my book and I want badly to jump on the Cavs.  Esp with it being Bennett's 4th season at the helm.  I have to think he has his system into place and could surprise people like he did with so many of his Washington State teams.

Mike Scott meant the world to Virginia's offense last year. Virginia doesn't have a healthy PG on the roster (Evans had foot surgery as did Brogdon). Both of these guys were the top assist men last year. So, in actuality, the three most important pieces to this team, which struggled mightily offensively last year, are not in action. Bennett's never won his first road game of the season and his offense has posted point per possession totals of 0.8, 0.93, and 0.83. That is putrid, also keeping in mind he had Mike Scott and a few healthy PG's to come to those numbers. I personally don't know how Virginia is going to score.

As for George Mason, I'm not all that high on them either so I kept it a lean. They do have the experienced PG, but Copes and Gray (they effect the depth) have been suspended.

Hewitt's going to try and run, he's probably going to go with somewhat of a full court press especially with Virginia's inability to bring the ball up the court, but just not sure how it will pan out.

Definitely like George Mason if they can make this game up and down, but seeing that Virginia only played one game above 66 possessions last year, I'm not sure it's going to happen.

This will be one of the more ugly games on today's card I would assume.

Thats why I love ya Neil.  Thanks for your insight on this one.  Ill probably stay away as it sounds like UVA is a big unknown.

Agree with two of them, Montana is probably a stretch without their PG.

  Here's to a profitable season ahead, Nropp.   I also was leaning Geo Mason, so you pretty much answered my question with the above post, but still would like to hear what you think of my largest bet today, Miss St at Troy.  Troy took a solid ass whipping at Starksville last year and are without one of their key returning pieces today.  I know that Troy's playing at home in their brand new facility, but how are they supposed to contend with the Bulldogs superior size, strength, and athletes?

I'm sure I'll say this a few times this season but Mississippi State sucks. Lost their coach. Lost their leading possession guy, best defender, and best assist guy in Bost. Their best offensive player Hood transferred to Duke. Brian Bryant, senior guard graduated. Moultrie and Sidney left for the NBA. Bring in Rick Ray to coach who spent time at Clemson and Purdue, two different systems so I have no idea what he's going to try and do here. They only have nine scholarship players available, but one of those is Applewhite and he's injured and not playing and was projected to be a big part of the offense. Ray's first recruit was PG Jacoby Davis, he tore his ACL in July. In September, Ray kicked Shaun Smith and Kristers Zeidaks off the team.

So, yah, this team sucks donkey dick. The good thing is they play a Troy team who lost a few key players from a team who couldn't defend a group of second-graders. 

I stayed away. Laying the chalk with a team I know nothing about is not my cup of tea, and Mississippi State would definitely qualify under that.

They ranked 8th nationally in three-point percentage, shot 50% from inside the three point line, and ranked 8th in the country from the foul stripe at 77%. They return nearly everyone from a team that went to the tournament, and from pretty much the same team that beat Montana by 6 last year, going 22/29 from the foul line. And that was when Cherry was healthy.

But they do have a new Head coach.  Here's a story from ESPN insider

If Sunday's exhibition is any indication, two areas Colorado State may struggle with this season are free throw shooting and taking care of the basketball.

Overall, the Rams showed they were up to the test of playing Division II power Metro State, controlling the game and beating them by 20, but they struggled in each of these areas.

CSU connected on just 21-of-35 free throws and turned it over 17 times, and we have to believe each will be an area of emphasis for new Rams coach Larry Eustachy in the weeks and months ahead.

The fact that people pay a monthly fee to read that crap is beyond my wildest dreams. Turnovers are one thing, but to worry about this team's foul shooting would be another. They added Colton Iverson from Minnesota which might take a dip into the FT%, but he won't be the one closing out ballgames. Looks like Green missed five foul shots in the exhibition and he only missed 21 last year (in 124 attempts). Montana struggled to put away Lewis Clark State in their exhibition for what it's worth. Games mean nothing.

Creighton and Austin Peay look solid, am I missing something?

Also, I dont think Texas should be laying 12, but I admittedly dont know much about Fresno St.

Also, Indiana -32.5 caught my eye. Total is 148.5 and I expect IU to get at least 90...can Bryant score 60 or keep IU to double digits? They will be out manned at every position....
Any thoughts?

If you don't mind, I'd like to get your opinion on the this angle concerning the Georgetown/Florida game. As you know, it's being played on an aircraft carrier (USS Bataan, in Jacksonville). Same with Ohio St./Marquette on the flight deck of the USS Yorktown in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

Looking to make a play on the Under 125 Georgetown/Florida. Wind COULD play a factor in scoring & shooting from deep, but I was thinking that depth perception could influence the shooting effeciency more.. any thoughts? I don't recall if you had a write up on last years game explaining something like this.. appreciate your insight!

Nropp,  I still can't do the Denver play but will get a small one on (that's what my wife says) the NC St./ Miami OH. game o134. if it's still there. 

The Tx.AM/Louis Tech o130.5  will be my pick and The other pick is all on you for having the nerve to get out front and showing everyone your knowledge. I will be all up in your grill if I bet my money and lose because someone I never met nor ever will said I should. Just be warned.
