I have nothing on this game. I definitely leaned Northwestern but couldn't pull the trigger. Thought about FAU a couple dozen times to take a stab when getting +200 to +450 but passed each time (trying to show discipline haha yeah right). Anyway watching this game (a great game) but dude kids learn to make free throws. Practice practice practice. There is no excuse. Your team is up 2 with you showing FTs to ice the game and you clank the front end of a 1 and 1 to which Northwestern immediately takes the rebound, scores a layup and off to OT where you probably lose because you lost momentum.
Free throws. Work on them. Now you know. Haha.

It’s nerves with the FT’s imho. How many FT’s can you make gassed and on the line for your season. If it were easy, we would have seen Jerson out there. They should do better but it isn’t as easy as it seems. People care a lot more than these kids do.

Not a big thing but when the score was 58-56 FanDuel showed NW +2.5 and I looked at the FT percentages for both teams and decided there was a great shot that NW could cover that line and lose by less than 2, not thinking they would tie it up and now win in OT.
On the flip side yesterday I lost on a Boise bet because the other team hit over 90% on FTs and Boise could not narrow the gap to cover 6 which I had.

They you never played a team sport. Yes yes it is on him. He had one job to do in the moment and failed miserably. Sure the rest of the team didn't respond well in OT. But to take blame off of his shoulders in the moment around the idea of as "team game" is basically woke culture version of a participation trophy for everyone. Nah that is 100% on him. Only him. He was the only one with the ball in his hands. He was the only one who could make those free throws.

FTs make a HUGE difference closing out a game. No question. Hence why I said that there is no excuse not to practice this and be prepared for it. Golden's FT % is 65% this season. Not exactly the guy I would want to be shooting FTs for sure. But damn dude when you have a chance to ice the game and advance you need to figure it out and do it. Tough loss for this FAU squad. I like them. Liked them last year and this year. They are fun to watch. Definitely will miss them. Congrats NW you played one hell of a game and deserve to advance.

What happened on FAUs last play of game, they didn't push the ball upward (guy actually passed backward to a guy in the back court, WTF) with plenty of time and instead of going to the hoop they chucked up a long 3?
Play the game. Don’t let the game play you.

Agree with everything you are saying. But when you have the opportunity to hit FTs and ice the game you have to do it. That is the one thing about the college game that is so wide open. Who can hit FTs and who can't.

I think he was expecting them to call timeout after crossing half court and by the time he realized they weren't it was too late

For someone who didn't have anything on this game, you sure sound like you are on tilt. HYou just said his FT % is 65%. He was 9/10 before that miss. Reverting to mean possibly? In a huge pressure situation. What are you typing up novel for?

dood is a 65% ft shooter and was 9/10 when he missed that front end. he was only reason they had a chance, not the reason they lost.
Respectfully disagree. I bet if you ask him he will take responsibility for the loss. Because I am sure he is a competitor. 9/10 no reason to think you can sink both then is there? Again my point is free throw shooting is such a wild card. Oregon when what 10/11 down the stretch to close it out.

Naw just kinda disappointed for FAU honestly. Like I said I like this team. Liked them last year and this year. Yes I took them in my bracket but who really cars about that. If you have a problem with it why are you responding? Did you really add anything to the conversation that hasn't already been discussed. Nope. You can buzz off.

FAU was lucky to even be in the game late, that flagrant one call swung the momentum, almost a six point swing….Northwestern deserved to win, gave it to em the whole game…

You might both be right about that. I thought that play was odd too. It will be interesting hearing the press conference interviews on that play I am sure.

I played HS basketball and you are not kidding on FTs, was a baseball pitcher also and in baseball I could shut down the noise, but at the FT line I heard everything.

I haven't commented in years but had to login just to say that this is a horrible mindset about sports. And yes I played/started 4 years of D1 college basketball.
I agree that guy will feel horrible about missing the front end of the 1 and 1 and will blame himself for losing. But the loss is not all his fault. What about the guy that jumped on the shot fake and let his guy drive by on that final NW possession? They were still winning by 2 at that point, just needed to get one stop. Or how about the guy that didn't step up and help stop the drive to the basket on the NW last shot? Or the guy that didn't contest the shot better? Or all the other guys that missed free throws earlier in the game that could've hypothetically had them already up by more than one possession?
There's so many variables that go into winning a basketball game. And yes he had a chance to closet it out and missing a free throw near the end of the game really hurts. But you can't blame the entire loss solely on that missed free throw in a game that was 45 minutes long.

I played baseball for B2B JUCO World Series Champions. MLB studs like Junior Spivey(MLB WS Winner) and Travis Hafner(63 Million dollar contract back in the 2000’s played for those teams. I think I know a little bit more about leadership and team sports than you do if you think they lost that game solely on him. You clearly have never even played basketball because you would know after a game if running up and down the court, these guys get tired. They are not robots. But yeah go ahead and blame one guy for a team losing. You seriously need to check yourself. Also fuck the Niners.
I never saw you come congratulate me on my Super Bowl victory. I believe you called it a donation. What is your bookie doing with your Super Bowl bet donation?
