-Ward and Langford combined for 35 points last time they played.
-Sparty has the Wolverines on deck
-Sparty just beat Ohio State by 18, holding them to 44 pts. In the last 5 years a Tom Izzo team has held a team to under 50 pts 5 times. In the following game they have given up an average of 66 pts.
-Rutgers just lost by 1 point to Iowa on a miracle 3 pointer off the glass at the buzzer. Gut punch?
-Revenge game? Maybe. A lot of games are revenge for a team who's 12-13. They were 8 pt dogs in November at the RAC. Is an 11 pt swing for flip of homecourt fair? One could argue yes. Sparty is 10-3 ats at home. But a lot has changed since November.
The Spartans will use one Sophomore, and two Freshmen in their front court(for the most part). If Rutgers does anything well it's Rebounding, and post play.
Metrics and power ratings might tell us that the Spartans are better than this spread.
On a Wednesday night, against a team they've all ready beaten, without 2 key players who played last time, and in state rival Michigan on deck where 1st place in the Big10 is at stake(they play each other again)...this spread is too high.

i dunno, man. kinda feels overinflated for a reason. vegas obviously knows all about the injuries and has that incorporated into the line. keep in mind, ward played almost none of that OSU game and they adjusted very quickly by the second half. the first half looked stagnant, but when they got hot, it was trouble. now they go home to play a garbage rutgers team that is 10 times worse than ohio st. the problem with msu is they don't have a defined leader, point guard, or distributor. they're going to have to figure out how to develop winston or mccquaid into that role very quickly. i think with michigan up and the injuries at hand, they know they need to roll today because of limitations at hand this weekend. if i do play this, i'm going to be on the opposite side. i think they blow them out by 20
No team is as good as it looks when winning nor are they as bad as they look when losing

I know, Sparty looked great in the 2H vs Ohio State without Ward. Does that say they are better without him, or that Ohio State had zero prep for a rotation without him? I side with the later thought.
FWIW:
I've looked and read at all the Spartan articles since that Ohio State game was over. They hinted my interest of this potential look ahead. Most of the articles first and foremost concentrated on the Spartans chances of winning the Big with Ward being out. And more importantly how will they match up with the Wolverines. Seemingly glossing over Rutgers today.
Ofcoarse no one expects them to lose, but laying 17?! So much can go wrong. Even if they are up by 20 with 2 minutes left...you're still shittin bricks laying 17. When does Izzo pull every starter if so?
I can't forget the Spartans 3 game losing streak either which happened not too long ago. Against Illinois Izzo actually started Tillman over Ward(for rest I suspect) we know how that one turned out.
Kithier is a freshmen that didn't play his senior year in highscool. He'll see more minutes.
