Kineprofessor's System - One System Play for Friday

I believe this is the only system play for Friday. 

(4-2) last 2 days 

 

System Plays (Kenpom Rankings 2/23/11)

1.  Play Dartmouth +13 at Yale (#183)

i think you are correct, dartmouth is the only play.  columbia and manhatten are very close plays as they are getting at least 6.5 points and their opponents are ranked in the 170's.

Yale has been underachieving greatly in the last couple weeks.

This looks solid without even looking up Dartmouth.

Hey guys, /love the work you're all doing and just started tailing some of the picks. I played FIU, SE Mizz State, Citadel, and Troy all last night and was pleased. I always cap my own games and was really high on Gonzaga (hit even larger on the ML) and Hawaii but you guys seems to always throw a few extra winners out there. I really appreciate the people use this board for what it's for.

I have a question though and I remember Kine saying to explain to the newbies (which I've always respected the way he handles this but just haven't been able to ask you all yet) which I suppose I would consider myself a newbie to this system... BUT... how do you figure what EXACTLY is a play or and ALMOST play? I understand you use Kenpom rankings but basically just wondering what makes it a system play, or for that matter, an almost play? Thanks in advance guys and as always, HIT THOSE BOOKIES!!!!

to be a play the teams must be ranked in the bottom 180 in kenpom, be a road team, get atleast 6.5 points, and meet the conference criteria

For a System Play:

1) The home team is ranked on Kenpom's list as 180 or greater
2) The home team is a favorite of 6.5 or more points
------When this occurs the play is ALWAYS the underdog!!

For an "Almost System Play:"

1) The home team is ranked on Kenpom's list in the 160-180 range
2) The home team is a favorite of 4.5 to 6 points. Usually this number gets to 6.5 by game time so it may become a system play.

I remember seeing some conferences not meeting the criteria, anyone care to share? Just wondering so I can follow this the same way you guys do and I think I have a few ideas on tweaking it my own personal way since I do have some experience with a few systems and this not being my 1st rodeo, well with this system it's my 1st but you know what I mean.

Also, when you say bottom 180, how low can their rankings go? Is it ANY team ranked less than 180, in a conference that qualifies, on the road, and getting at least 6.5? Or is there a cutoff on how low the teams ranking can be? It's interesting to say the least but I'm thinking of a few small tweaks I can make personally and if they're efficient I will definitely share since I feel this board needs more of this. As in, WE ARE ALL HERE TO WIN AND HELP EACH OTHER.

Sorry Nizz, you replied as I was replying. Can you share which conferences do NOT meet the criteria and if the underdog ranking bottoms out at a certain number or no? Also, is their a cut-off on how high the favorite can be ranked? Thanks again.
Hopefully after I fully understand (I feel I do now just not conferences and cutoff of rankings) I may be able to help us all out on some things. I am in no way going to mess with this system but try new things for myself and if they turn out well I will share.

I think maybe the best play today is an almost system play - Columbia with the magic number +6.5

Columbia's playing Penn. Who they beat  at home a couple of weeks ago. Penn might be up for a little revenge.
