I have noticed lots of 1st round rematches from teams that played the last regular season game. Anyone notice a pattern? I haven't tracked it. Gonna go back and see if I can notice anything. Off top more my head seems team who won last regular season game won again. But I only remember like 3.
Maine beat Umass lowell both times. covered tournament.
Oakland beat GB 2 times. Covered tournament
Wright st lost 1st won 2nd. Covered tournament
Valpo lost 1st won 2nd conference neutral court. Won and covered easily.
S Illinois lost 1st won 2nd conference neutral court. Won by 1. Not sure line
So far home team won and covered either way and team who won 1st lost 2nd on neutral.
Probably relatively meaningless. Only 5 games. Thought there was a few more.

You are very astute.
However, in my experience if a team wins but no cover, they will lose the rematch that comes within a week later.
Additionally, if the conference tourney game is the 3rd game between them during the season, and one teamwork both previous games, it's very hard to win that 3rd game.
