Let me start off by saying that I do not think that this Villanova team is nowhere near as "not good" as the general public perceives them to be coming into this game and blowing 3 straight. They certainly have not been what they can be these past few games as they lack the NBA-like energy from most positions to make runs in games and control the tempo throughout it. On the road trip, Villanova has allowed an unusual amount of shot attempts to their opponents while their own starts Paschall and Booth hit a slump to make matters worse. Booth has been shooting 18% from beyond the arc after being the best shooter in the big east just about 2-3 weeks ago.
This is the last season on-campus game for Villanova and with so much at stake Marquette should know what kind of atmosphere they're coming into trying to pull of a upset and claim the Big East.
Now, Villanova is also great home team having won 9 straight there after those two slip ups before conference play to Furman an dMichigan. I expect them to fully come out firing here, this will be huge.
If you had Nova making a Final 4 push, remember that their that 10-0 start in BIg East was almost just as good and that's not fully out of the equation.The last meeting between these two was decided by a point and some questionable refereeing that I won't get into here.
What needs to happen here today knight is as follows. Paschall and Booth both need to hit a fair number of shots, which they're beyond capable of and I think will do here tonight. Let Gillespie or bey heat up even a little, and Nova will secure this huge win. They won't be a fun team to play in march. I don't think they will be a fun team for Marquette to play tonight.
