UNC, that was a good write-up, but we still don't know if Lathan is actually goin to play. When they played earlier this season, Lathan only chipped in 11 points.
It seems that the injury to Jake Kelly (a 6'6" guard) in this game hurt them more. SIU went on a 22-6 run when he went out.
With all this being said, Lathan could give the team a big boost by being back. They have played in some really close games, as of late.
The 3 has kept them in games along with our D. Our D is something we take pride in even though we dont have great atheletes. If we dont play D combined with bad shooting its a long night. It is just so unpredictable what to expect from this squad right now.

For discussions sake, I responded with this in my thread regarded the Hokies-UVGay matchup:
They have shown me nothing on the road and their inability to score points is a definite problem. Will probably end up as a no play as this line has already reached 4. Delaney has every injury ever suffered right now and we have the most retarded big man in all of all basketball that just holds us back from being a great team(Jeff Allen)....I love the development of Hudson, Bell and Davila but our biggest problem on the road is the lack of true point guard. We have Delaney starting the game at point and then have to bring a freshman to spell him. Delaney would be much better utilized as a 2 guard but they cant afford to risk the frosh turning the ball over too much. We play great D which is going to keep us in games, but Allen likes to play 90 feet of defense on every player on the court. Normally causing our opponent to be in the bonus for a majority of each half. I will of course be cheering on my Hokies and we are capable of winning, but I will not be back them on the road in this matchup
Agreed the road woes def. scare me. Gotta beleive they step up though for this instate game.

Hey. I've been following the forum for a while. Some really great insight in here. Beats the hell out of anything else on covers. Wanted to help out with a bit of analysis on the WISC/PURDU game.
WISC has had 5 true road games this year, going 2-3 ATS. Those wins were at Penn St. and Northwestern. They were defeated at Wisc GB (a big challenge for this squad considering it had defeated DUKE a week before and was getting much national love, it's THE state school in a small hostile gym against a decent mid-major). They were really close to at least covering at Michigan State when Leuer got hurt and were beat at OSU when they got Turner back and rolling. I agree with UNC. Bo Ryan is the ultimate no respect coach. He has a knack for earning wins for WISC in games they have no shot. Look at some of their wins. Duke, Maryland, Ohio State (early), Marquette and PURDUE (first game without Leuer). Which leads me to the Boilermakers...
Purdues first of three consecutive losses came to these Badgers who were able to take advantage of a sloppy Purdue squad. Tough to recall the game but looking at the box score reveals some interesting notes. Turnovers and rebounding were about even, slightly favoring Wisconsin. Shooting stats favored Purdue, hitting 3 of 10 from 3 opposed to 5/19 from Wisc and had a better overall FG percentage on almost equal FG attempts. This game was far from a 7 point defeat. Purdue went 13-24 from the charity stripe. If they had shot their yearlong average this would have been at least a 2 point affair. Johnson and Moore, both 70% shooters, went a combined 3-12.
Now one game does not a trend make. But considering this matchup, Purdues defence has really struggled as of late, their last matchup vs MICH is far from a reasonable indication. They relied on turnovers and solid shooting to put the wolverines away early, and michigan was able to get a backdoor cover, making 46% of their shots (MICHIGAN! worst shooting team in B10, sans manny harris).
The Badgers have just been awful recently on offense, which may aid the purdue effort. However, this team has managed to win 4 of 5 without its best scorer relying on defense more than ever. Rest assured they will try to manufacture good looks and get to the line, a positive for the leagues best FT % team. They will make his one ugly for Purdue. I have no doubt about that. Purdue will likely win, with home-court and the revenge factor in their favor. But this will be and ugly one. And if Wisconsin can get Purdue to rely on perimeter shots. The 2nd worst B10 3 pt % team will be in for a world of hurt.

UNC, Jake Kelly, was he a transfer from Iowa? I knew he was from out there, and I believe he lost his mom in a plane accident. I'm not sure if that is the dude.

Thats him very sad story. IOWA could really use him just as much as we can. He was coming on strong to close out the season in Big Ten play last season. Anxious for him to be back out on the court.

GT will handle WAKE ...good call there...pts low in my opinion, GT shoul be favored by a bit more
having lived in Tampa 3 of last 4 years...I couldnt lay money on them againts a decent squad...mind you they almost beat a ND team that should of won by 8 or more ...The hall has some tough games on deck, but so does USF...and USF is a much newer and smaller program even compared to SH....the home crowd is almost a non-factor...
( ALSO....it is Gasparilla in Tampa this weekend...one of the most out of control dunken college age throwdowns of the year in the Tampa area...these youngbucks minds will be pre-occupied if not already preparing to get retarded all weekend....they also arent going anywhere with PITT on deck Sunday...they arent only pre-occupied, they are also going to get demolished by PITT after the crazy weekend

trmccart - just to clarify things, Jon Leur DID play against purdue and played 38 of 40 minutes and shot 2 of 15 from the field ...it was his defense that helped win them the game as he did work on JJ...post on my thread if you want to discuss it, i wont clog up UNC's thread with a game he has a no play on.
