WVU -10.5 (10U)
I dont see this line dropping anymore. I think if it does it will bounce around from 10 to the original line. I see a lot of guys jumping on OLE MISS and not quiet understanding why. I watched this OLE MISS team get beat to death by a guard oriented NOVA team. Now they will be taking on a bigger WVU team that matches up very well with them. I am not worried about the injuries here as these guys will play. No way they sit out for this one.
I know WVU has not played anyone yet at home but they have played very well at home offensively and defensively. Nor has OLE MISS played a road game like this one.
With the shot selection OLE MISS brings to the table they have a great shot at getting ran out of the gym. I understand they have shot well but they have not played a physical defense yet like WVU and will have to do it on the road. The style of defense Huggins enforces and the ability to have his players contest shots and take away 2nd opportunites is amazing. They have been hit and miss so far this season but he will have full attention from his group tonight.
I think this line has great value from the fact being we got a WVU team that played flat due to finals last week. We should see a home crowd that is rocking tonight with it being the holidays. They will want to give there fans a nice Christmas present. I can see a good first half but as this game goes deep in the 2nd I see way to much rebounding and defense that will frustrate this OLE MISS team. I have never been impressed with the SEC teams nor will I back one on the road in a very tough environment. With the exception of UK.
This will not be the same game it was last year..
CAREFUL here...check out someof the comments from Huggins after saturday's game...
After taking a long look at the boxscore after the game, Huggins was asked if he like anything on it.
“No, not really,” he said.
Huggins was particularly upset with his team’s defense and inability to break Cleveland State’s zone, something West Virginia knew was coming and worked on everyday in practice. (mind you they hadn'tplayed in a week and thus had a week to practice against it)
“I don’t know how many times you’re supposed to say get the ball up the sideline,” he said. “How many times you’re supposed to say get the ball and face the other basket. I don’t know how many times you’re supposed to say run through the ball. I don’t know how many drills you are supposed to do.”
“I’ve never had a team give up that many layups in 28 years of coaching,” said Huggins. “I have never coached a team that has that poor of help (defense). We are awful, just God awful.”
And add in the revenge factor....The two squared off Dec. 3 of last season, with West Virginia winning 80-78. The Rebels shot 55.3 percent from the field in that matchup, but their 27-game home winning streak against non-conference opponents was snapped as Chris Warren missed the front end of a 1-and-1 with 25 seconds left and a 25-footer as time expired.
I'll take the 11 and be on the Rebels!!!
