UNC - how this team deserves to be a #1 seed let alone start their games in Greensboro, North Carolina is beyond me. Just another set of selection committee members that want to suck Roy Williams dick and get brownie points.
- You choose UNC over Missouri.....we are talking about a team that has lost 1 less game, has no really been blown out all season, beat a deadly baylor squad 3 times and played in arguably what is the hardest divison in college basketball.
- The ACC is in its down days, and that is clear. This UNC squad though it's similar in nature to previous squads, is playing in a shitty conference and everyone knows it. I don't care if Florida st, duke miami and nc state are decent teams, they aren't what they used to be. Notable awful teams GT, Wake Forest, Boston College make this division not very grueling. Big 12, however, only easy games are hosting Texas AM and playing Texas Tech.
This is honestly something that should be reveiwed, because missouri wound up getting 1 of the 31 first place votes, the other 30 going to kentucky, so how do you give UNC such an edge.....duh the thing is fixed.
If you disagree please give me some reasonable explanation. Missouri beat UNC if they clash, no doubt in my mind. They have no match for Ricardo Ratliffe, Kim English or Phil Pressey.
Also, I really feel kansas should be a 1 seed as well. Again mainly on the basis that they just had a much much harder conference schedule, playing against deeper squads.
And lastly, regarding the UNC choice, they got blown out by Florida St by close to 30 points. 1 seeds ya maybe if u were 30-1 a loss like that goes overlooked but not 29-5 and losing your conference tournament to who, yet again their foe Florida state. surprise surprise, a 17 rpi team beats them twice....oh you got it....the acc sucks. Way to snub the best conference in basketball, the big 12.

The BIG TEN was THE BEST conference this year buddy. But I agree with the rest of your post. UNC is terrible. They have ZERO interest in playing on the defensive end of the floor. In addition, they didn't lose by "close to 30", they lost by THIRTY THREE!!! LOL

No way missouri deserves a 1 seed over mich st... Check the stength of schedule out of conference for those two teams... And add the fact the mich st tied for first in the regular season and won the conf tournament of arguably the best conference in the country... The big 12 sucked dick this year

Someone's excuse was that Missouri lost to Kansas State U twice, but personally I think KSU is a stronger team than Florida State. And UNC lost to florida state twice.
I just really would love to know the reasoning behind giving North Carolina such an advantage even though they were mired by a massive, number 1 seed potential, crippling, loss to Florida State.
Yea they win the ACC tourny, crown em as 1's but really what point are you making by keeping them a 1 seed losing their conference tournament. And sorry Syracuse too, but it's hard to argue when you've only lost 2 games all season, and you had an undefeated BIG EAST SEASON.
What do you have North Carolina?
My selections: For the 1's
UK [Overall] Missouri Syracuse Michigan State or Kansas. Tight call but, it should go to Kansas. According to the selection theory the conference tourny shouldn't affect your position that much. And Kansas was yet again dominant this year and deserve a 1 seed and a potential championship - as much as I hate them...were talking about Thomas Robinson, UNC just has another Luke Harangody, Tyler Hansoboro type player and he'll immediately be in foul trouble and rendered useless.

Michigan St lost to Northwestern, that alone is enough to put you in NIT talks .... joking... but seriously you don't get a 1 losing 7 games, one of those to a small school and Ok ball program. Bad logic, next.

Baylor has their best team in years Kansas has another pedigree of NBA stars Missouri are dominant Iowa St has a great team Kansas St are great again, bumped missouri twice.
You gotta play em all twice.
Yeah please try and tell me a division like the big 10, crap Illinois, crap northwestern, crap Iowa, and arguably the most inconsistent division in basketball. Wisconsin and Purdue as great examples, but I wouldn't hold my breathe putting Ohio St in there. Michigan State was really the only strong school thorough the year, with a few road blocks, here or there.

Being #1 seed vs. #2 seed is basically the same thing. First game is against a team you should overmatch, and then the second game vs a team that struggled to get in the tourney. After that, it's just luck of the draw of who won the other brackets. Either way, teams get a chance to win their way to the championship.

LOL if that's truly your theory, that's sad. Some 15's aren't horrible and if you take away the Greensboro location from them they might play that Florida St game we all loved so much...

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but the committee chairman said Missouri was the last #2 and it was mainly based on out of conference schedule strength.

MSU had #1 SOS in the country.. Missouri's was close to 100..
that's why 7 losses is acceptable.. they also won B10 Reg Season and Tournament (the #1 RPI rated conference in the country)

UNC, DUKE--are not what they were 2-3 years back--they are SHIET
Mizzou, Baylor are rolling right now have firepower in all cilinders and i see mizzou in the final 4 winnig its division
i see Gtown facing mizzou in the final 4 --UNC wil, have a soft schedule until the elite 8 but when they get there i see Gtown or Kansas rapping them----if michigan plays a game like they did againts OHSU at home they might stumble UNC

you guys are really wasting a lot of time bitching about a 1 vs 2 seed when it really doesnt matter that much. LOCATION matters more than anything (which Mizzou got screwed on).
baylor is just 6-5 in their last 11 games. I dont really see "firing on all cyinders". their win over KU was damn impressive but prior to them they werent playing really really awesome.
mizzou OTOH has been consistently great. outside of the brain fart at KSU and the choke game at KU, they have looked awesome

Duke in a game that they dominated except for the last two minutes (which they more than made up for the 2nd time around)
UNLV in Vegas.
And the 2 florida state games.
So they have 1 bad loss and that is the blowout game to florida state. you said yourself that emphasis shouldn't be placed on the conference tournament... especially when they held out arguably their 2nd best player due to a tweaked wrist.
UNC this year has beaten a fellow number 1 seed (by double digits)
A 2 seed (by 20 points?)
A 4 seed
that record holds up just fine on a number 1 line.

UNC's 5 losses this year.
Kentucky on the last possession.

Kansas is just as good as Kentucky if not better. They've grown as a team as the season progressed.
Why should UNC's two losses to Florida St be overlooked so much more greatly than Mizzou's 2 losses to Kansas St. Mizzou won the conference title, that's really all that should matter with a 30-4 record to seal a #1 seed.
All I'm saying is the conference tournament is a waste if they are going to put ZERO emphasis on it's value. Like pac-12 teams faits are decided by it over a whole conference schedule, and then #1 seeds are pretty much picked in the acc and big 10 without it .... it's just dumb and not very congruent. And to further stress this, that difference between a 1 and 2 is massive...

this would be true. they put almost no emphasis on conference tournaments. they prefer to look at the regular season body of work than a couple of games worth.
conference tournaments are good for 1) money 2) another championship for a team to have (regular season vs conference) 3) a chance for a hot team to make the tournament after a slugging start 4) sort out the bubble teams
if you have complaints about teams or seeds, look to the RPI and SOS and then come back with that data. that's what the committee is going to rely heavily on

Baylor Missouri or Kansas HAVE to be one of these seeds.
Syracuse HAVE to be a #1 seed
Kentucky HAVE to be a #1 seed
Michigan St/Ohio St/Unc/ or a second Big 12 team HAVE to be the last #1 seed
A big 12 team had to be top 3 and the favouring of UNC has gone too far. You know the refs are favouring zeller too. Trust me this kid is not that great a talent, he's just playing in a much lower skill level.
But if you want to know more about my theories of how all the professional sports league are on the downturn then Private message me.

Basically I see it like this:
You've got 4 #1 seeds.
Baylor Missouri or Kansas HAVE to be one of these seeds.
Syracuse HAVE to be a #1 seed
Kentucky HAVE to be a #1 seed
Michigan St/Ohio St/Unc/ or a second Big 12 team HAVE to be the last #1 seed

Yeah but you overlooked how much it's emphasized in the pacific 10 (12 now, but never to me). Like Cal should be in no question based on their regular season. Colorado ?????????? HUH? That team should be in the NIT. I mean a team like mississippi st was snubbed.
And if you want to talk about snubs....biggest of all is Seton Hall.
Connecticutt in....that's another scam....way to bias the conference tourny there, but not for #1 selection jesus, wtf is wrong with this league, it's just kids playing basketball....not professionals.
It drives me crazy. UCON SUCK

why should the big 12 get a number 1 seed? baylor's best non conference win... st mary's. if it weren't for beating kansas in the big 12tournament that would've been their best win all year probably. and it was at home. to say baylor should even be considered for a 1 seed shows me that you are obviously showing a big 12 bias..
.. seton hall a snub? how many opportunities did they have to lock up a tournament spot? they blew everyone they had.
