First off, I did not bet on this game.  Also I'd like to say congratulations to all who bet on Nova!!!

But be honest..... when Michigan was winning earlier in the game, you thought Villanova was most likely not going to cover the spread?
Maybe pull out the win, but not cover?

Most people know college hoops takes 40min to play out, not 5 min.

Anyone who gets worried about a bet early in a game should not be gambling

You have not been betting very long as a 53 yr old who has been in the game for a long time you do not count your money till the game is over. So being behind in the first half is meaningless. Things can change very quickly.

I’ll give you a perfect example. Last NFL season I has the Redskins plus 7 against the Chiefs..  Skins are down 4. Last play of the game the stupid redskins start the lateral play all over th field. Skins fumble and the Chiefs pick it up and score a TD. I LOSE .. game ain’t over till it’s over and it does no good to think anything in the first half

I kind of expected Michigan to come out of the gates hot.
Coming off of a lackluster performance versus Loyola and then being set as a large underdog against Villanova, I was expecting an early shot by Michigan

The question for me was how long would it take for Villanova to hang in against the initial surge before they could turn the tide
This Nova team was a special bunch of guys.

Even with the expected loss of both Brunson & Bridges, this team is setup to have continued success with a returning bunch that includes Booth, Spellman, Paschall and DiVencenzio along with a top recruiting class coming in

Jay Wright is an elite coach and runs a program and system that are next level

Villanova can now be mentioned with such blue blood programs such as Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas and Michigan State

The net result will be a better class of top talent wanting to go to a program that allows you to shoot

How often does a team go wire to wire, covering a 7 point spread from the first few minutes of a game until the final buzzer? Smart gamblers used the first 8 minutes as an opportunity to grab Villanova -4 during live wagering timeouts. 4 was the best line I saw all game.

So what you all are telling me is.......

that when Michigan was winning earlier in the game, and on top of that was getting 6.5 points, you're telling me that if you could turn around and put your money on Michigan instead at that moment, you wouldn't have?!?!?!?

Sure the game takes 40 minutes to play.  And I've seen teams come back from double digit down and win games, but that's not the case most of the time.   And as gamblers, you are picking teams based on what you think will most likely to happen.

So again, what you all are telling me....... is that when Michigan was winning the game, if the bookie told you that you could switch your bet to Michigan, and on top of that, you'd also have the +6.5, you wouldn't have?

I think you all would have switched that bet knowing that most of the time when a team is playing as well as Michigan was and had the lead, plus on top of that, was getting 6.5 pts, in most cases, the team covers.

    Am I wrong?

This is not even remotely true for the first few minutes of a game

In most cases, after the first 10 minutes of the game, the favorite team is being outplayed, plus is giving 6.5 points, I think most people  are thinking that Michigan was going to most likely end up covering.

Live betting is different.  I'm just talking about just a straight bet before the game.   Lots of teams come back and cover, but I'm talking about what people were probably thinking during the first 10 minutes of the game.

It sounds like you created this post because you were curious how Nova backers were feeling early on.. and you have your answer. Don't know what you're still arguing ...

What I was thinking is whether people would put down their egos and admit that, at some point during the game, that maybe Michigan with the 7 pt spread would have been a better choice.

    ChristNYC was the only one.

My main point I'm trying to get across is.......

if a team, especially a dog getting a whopping 7 pts, is playing just as good for the first 10 minutes of a game, that most UNBIAS cappers would think the dog would cover.

    The key word is "UNBIAS".

i actually thought michigan would be down by 2 or up at half. Nova usually always does their most damage 2nd half

So with 75% of the game left(you said the first 10 minutes which is 25% of the game) you would be counting your money because you are getting seven points and winning?

Dude, you are barking up the wrong tree starting a thread like this. You are acting like Nova overcame an insurmountable lead to cover this game, but they didn't. Sure, Michigan played well early but as a Nova bettor, I was feeling good that they had a lead at the half and hadn't even starting shooting well yet. I do think you bet the game (I believe you had Michigan) because noone would bring this topic up without any money on the game.
