The Duke/Wake line stinks

Duke -1.5

I was shocked when I woke up this morning to see that Duke is actually favored on the road against the prototypical team which is supposed to give Duke huge problems.  The height, speed, and athleticism of Wake Forest are all far superior to Dukes.  I was expecting this line to be Wake -2.5 to -3.5!  This game is going to come down to if Duke is hitting their outside shots, if Gerald Henderson brings his tough mentality and helps Duke out on the boards big time, and the ability of Duke's defense to draw charges on young players and stop Teague from penetrating.  I was getting ready to take Duke + the points... but laying points on the road is something I don't know if I am prepared to do. 

Anyone have thoughts on this game... I am sure Wake is going to be a very popular play around here?

Woop, that is exactly the thing making me nervous. I have not seen 1 person one here say Puke yet. It always seems that when everyone says they will lose(NC games excluded) they come out and dominate someone. With the fact that they are now the fav on the road, I think Vegas may have hook, line and sinkered everyone right in. God, I may have to really take them tonight.

Road teams have been money for a awhile now.

I agree with this WOOP but i think WAKE has to make the adjustments and play an ounce of D today...

PLEASE do not even consider taking Wake tonight.
 
dook is the better team and will exploit Wake's youth and inexperience in the "big game environment."
 
Either bet dook or stay away from it.

Last night I had my thoughts and write up on this game ready to go... was going to tell everyone take DUKE ML + whatever... and then this line comes out.  Just seems very strange that they are the favorite...  This is what everyone in the world says is Dukes weakness and will struggle with and yet they are favored...

raptors--Not in some parts of NC. His spelling is just fine.
 
Woop- Yup. The long athletic guards, good inside presence, WF has the script and the characters to beat them. They always have had a pretty good record at home against them as well. All I wanted to see was WF-1.5 or 2.

Honestly to me this is a good thing for you if you like Duke.....I changed my mind the other day and was pretty sure I was playing Duke......After seeing this line I am 95% sure that I am playing Puke......Looks a lot like the UCONN/ Notre Dame line that stunk on Saturday

I think everyone is under estimating Duke's defense. People are expecting Wake to come out and run up and down the court and Duke won't be able to keep up. If that happens then Duke is in trouble. If you don't think Coach K knows that and hasn't been preparing for that then you shouldn't be betting on this game.
 
I think Duke will slow the game down and control the pace. They will use their defense to force turnovers and frustrate Wake into taking bad shots. If Duke is lighting it up from 3 then Wake is in trouble. If Wake plays smart and uses their size and athletic advantage then Duke is in trouble.
 
This game could go either way in my opinion and I think it will be a great game. As a Duke hater I will just be watching and pulling for Wake.

wsw-- I see where you are coming from but put wwith WF I think having an advantage on the boards they will have the ability to get some transition buckets.

Duke needs to get Wake into some foul trouble by drawing charges plain and simple.  McClure, Zoubek, and Thomas can not guard the Wake bigmen straight up.  McFarland is very quick for a guy of his size... and Aminu and Johnson's athleticism is incredible

Flip like the UCONN game ??  Didnt the line stay at 1.5 to 2 pretty much the whole time ? It doesnt matter the point was that Notre Dame IMO should have been favored in that game.....And tonight IMO Wake should have been favored....Just looks very similar to me

im staying off this game because i cant bring myself to bet on the dookies...ill be rooting against them as always...but if i had to pick a side, itd be dook minus anything under 4.

    I always go by what the lined opened at LVSC at. They opened it at ND -1. Then thru the day it went all the way up to Conn -2. Thats all I ment.

    In the UNC vs Wake game AT WAKE, UNC shot 35% from the field while Wake shot 47% (42% from the 3) ... yet Wake only won the game by 3 points.

    • Trends don't mean much.  Some of those stats date back a couple of seasons to where half these kids were not even playing...

    Duke has won 7 of their last 8 outright against ranked opponents.  Does that mean this game is in Duke's pocket?

    Speaking of fouls woop, I have this bad feeling that I have seen this story before. best player on the other team(Teague) starts getting hot, they are growing a lead, then Paulus starts tripping backwards(his version of Defense). Then teague sits, Puke gets a lead before hf, never gives it up.

    Not sure anyone can slow the tempo enough to keep WFU from running. They run at every opportunity and on every rebound at all possessions except when Chas McFarland grabs a rebound, so i'm not sure Duke can stop that.
