Epic Revenge Spot for Huggins. His former protege Brad Underwood knocked out the Mountaineers last March as coach of SFA(as a 14 seed). And now Underwood is going for win #100 in his career. He's 99-16 in his career as a coach. That's a filthy good record.
The coaches know each other well, they've worked together and are friends. But you can't tell me that this will be just another ordinary game. Underwood will want his 100th win vs his old teacher, and Huggins wants to stick it to him for last years tournament dream crusher. Here's a quote that makes me think Huggy will have his guys prepared:
* Huggins was asked about the conversation he had with Underwood following his team’s loss to Underwood’s team Stephen F. Austin in the NCAA tournament.
“We talked for quite a while afterwards about a lot of stuff. I think I’ve been very open and very honest in that I don’t think our guys took them very seriously,” Huggins admitted. “I thought our guys had horrible practices and as much as I tried to get them back on track I couldn’t do it. We came out really flat and they came out and hit us in the mouth.”
Both these teams are built similarly. They press/trap/pressure teams into turnovers. They both crash the boards better than anyone. They both run fast tempo.
The Cowboy's Jawun Evans will probably be the best player on the floor. But they also rely on Freshmen a lot, who account for 40% of their minutes.
There's a few key things that I'm seeing that make me like WVU in this game. But the line movement is a big one.
Betonline and another book opened it WVU-5. (Sagarin line is -4.18) It's since crashed down to -1. Most the books have the juice between -105/-110, Betonline is at -115.
Is SOS important here?
WVU beat Virginia(ranked #1 by KP) in their house. Okie got destroyed by North Carolina(ranked #4 by KP) on a neutral court. We just saw Virginia handle Louisville(ranked #8) in Loui. What do you think Virginia would do to Okie(ranked #33)?
*read that at least twice*
I haven't looked at any bet % numbers yet, but I can absolutely guarantee the public will be/all ready is on WVU.
So why the 4 pt line move? Any thoughts appreciated

Be careful there....WVU's pressure defense has been a work in process for 3 years now and one of the areas they have consistently improved upon is defending without fouling.

Matchups and situation dictate how lots of games play out. So I don't take a ton of stock in team A beat B and B beat C so A beats C thinking. Line move to me is as simple as after it opened 5 sharp money saw a ton of value in the home dog and books dropped it quickly to 1. Are you suggesting the line move is a setup? Always tough to back road chalk with home cooking refs.

Nice write up, sac. It's nice to see someone actually try to encourage actual discussion on this forum.
Oklahoma State is now listed as a -1 favorite. So between the line movement and public being on WVU (although this could change before tip off) I would probably go with the home team.
But most likely, I'll pass. Between football, other basketball games, and the UFC tonight. They are better betting options on the board.

Oklahoma state has the best player on the floor and another experienced guard in Forte. There's going to be a ton of free throws and that's where Oklahoma state has the biggest edge

I think the line is about right.....I actually thought it would open at WVU -3 and get bet down a pick. Surprised to see it open that high but not it getting bet down. Both teams are a serious Elite 8 threat and just don't know if the Pokes have the D to make them a contender like he EERS....
We all know each teams strengths and normally I would say the WVU is the slightly better team but the home court balances that out, but with many students on break how loud and crazy will it be.
Pokes have played the tougher schedule so far with the EERS only test being the HOOS on the road in which they played beautifully. Even after going down 20 to Temple in the early season tourney they stormed back and were right there at the end....
Total seems a bit high as I see a 82-78 game either way.

I think Mr. Chodaz was on to something...
Only sharp $ could knock down okie+5 to okie-1. I think some bettors might be sitting on okie+5 and wvu +1 tickets.
Middle or juice out scenario.
I'm just gonna watch this one if I can get off work in time.

Okstate beat WSU shockers by 20 plus at their place... breaking a 42 game win streak or something.
Okstate beat UCONN be 30+
Okstate handed Gtown their worst loss since like 1993
NONE of the games were in Stillwater....

For the first time in a long time, GIA will be sold out. You cannot ignore the home court advantage and magic of GIA. A lot better teams have come into Stillwater and lost to a lot worse teams.
Small guards? Yeah they are small.... but Evans is the best PG in the country, plays like Chris Paul. Forte is a 5th year senior and undersized but the best 3 pt shooter in the country... when open. The freshman are really solid by the way.

also, read my post about the ticket sales....
