the guy that posted the last post on page 1 had it right - they get such treatment from the refs it's ridiculous. you can't say they don't. i play ball with a guy who is a duke fan, and he admits they get help. many a game i've watched they get tons of help from the refs.

why i really hate them is that they will elbow you and then if you turn and look at them the wrong way, they will act like they just got mugged, like a euro soccer player - i can't stand that. they are pretty dirty and flip out if they get touched. i hate playing against guys like that in my leagues or pickup, the guy that will elbow you and hack you every time, but on the other side he calls everything and complains - thats why I hate Duke - they are that guy

The problem is that Duke doesn't win more than any other team in the NCAA unless you're talking regular season. Duke isn't even the most successful team in NC, it is the Tarheels. Why aren't they receiving the hate?
The main reason Duke is hated is because of media bias, favoritism from officials, and having unmerited hype year after year with nothing to show for it but early tourney exits.
Duke this year has achieved at a level it was supposed to and had an easy road to the Final Four. Will they win it? Who knows, but if history is any indicator, I doubt it.

Years ago, I went to a Duke/UNC football game, at Wallace Wade stadium, with a couple of friends. I guess my point is, I got no problem with the Duke teams, their success in basketball has made it a better conference, for that I'm grateful. As some others have mentioned, some Duke fans take it to another level, and this time, they paid. And if by chance either one of those Duke fans should ever read this, I'm sorry for the extent of the ass whipping we gave you. But you swung first. I'd like to think most Duke fans aren't like that, but for one day, and a few after, I hated them. I've outgrown that now (tho' I did bet on Baylor), and now live in Florida, but I suspect that 8 miles still ain't enough to keep these 2 old rivals apart, and the occasional exchange of fisticuffs....

Duke is an outstanding program and Coach K is the man 4 sure; people hate Duke b/c Duke wins in clutch situations where other teams choke Duke finds a way to win and they win with swagger; in this spot v. WVU they will lose; close game but in the end WVU is a matchup problem for Duke.

If you were to switch Duke and Kansas in the brackets Kansas would be final 4 and Duke would be long gone and we wouldn't be listening to Dickie V and a bunch of other person on espn tell us how good they are.
