This is actually pretty easy...I didn't read EVERY post in this thread, but, I read most and I didn't see anyone mention this: It's a racial thing.
Of course Duke has always seemed to get the majority of the cream of the crop "white" players under Coach K and in my opinion would say usually always have the most "white" talent (McD's All-Americans, etc.)...and I'm not discounting the Johnny Dawkins', Grant Hills', and Nolan Smiths' out there, but, this is simply a fact...Laettner, Hurley, Ferry, Wojo (Wojciechowski), Snyder, Redick, Dunleavy Jr., Collins, McRoberts, Parks, Randolph, Scheyer, Singler, Zoubek, Plumlee, Plumlee.
Now to my point...in our "politically correct" society it is simply not trendy to dislike "non'white" players UNLESS they have done something to deserve to disliked by a group of fans such as Kobe, A-Rod, Barry Bonds. However, in our "politically correct" society it is quite trendy to boo and dislike "white" players, or "white" dominated teams (like Duke). This theory is also proven true out west with another "white" dominated school...that school is BYU. They get the same treatment here out west that Duke gets, I've seen it in person and seen it as I've probably watched hundreds of their games over the years in football and basketball.
It's funny, whenever I watch the Suns play on the road I even see Steve Nash getting booed by fans as if he murdered someone. What has Steve Nash done to deserve this? As a Laker fan I'm by no means a Nash fan, but, it boggles my mind why he would be hated in such a way. I've seen the same kind of booing with Nowitzki. I don't see players like Carmelo or Dwight Howard or Chris Bosh getting booed in this fashion. Why?

You said Nick Swisher was better than JD Drew or just as good. If you think that is remotely correct you dont understand or interpret stats and baseball.
Nick swisher has never batted over 260 and has never had an OPS over 867.
JD Drew hasnt batted below 270 in the past 7 years and had an OPS of .900 or higher in 3 of the last 5 years and 4 of the last 7.
Case and point of your bias.
Career wise...yes...Drew is miles better. But if we're projected the upcoming season...I'll say Swisher is slightly better or equal to Drew. His OBP is great. He was huge for the Yankees last season. And he's a good player. Drew is past his prime. Before last season...this wouldn't even be in discussion. But Drew is an injury waiting to happen. I think Swisher is, like I said, slightly better or equal to Drew NOW.
Every home team in every sports gets the calls. Quit crying about duke. Ever watched a unc game? A lakers home game? Derek jeter home run with the aid of jefferey maeir in 1996? Tom brady?

LOL come on spark you know why people hate Duke. same reason people hate the Yankees, Lakers, Celtics, Red Sox, ND. When you see the same team win all the time people hate it. Usually the fans rub it in your face everytime one of their teams win, its annoying.
The reason i hate Duke is because ESPN has made me hate Duke. I can only take so much Dickie V telling me how great the program is and how he blows Coach K every moment he has. I guess i dont really have a true reason why i hate Duke. I think its too much of something makes you sick.
