Ohio St. fans just make me laugh. Their team is always this or that and most just flat out think that they are better than rest of the CFB world.

The Overrated (every stinking year like Notre Dame) State University isn't guaranteed shit except that they will beat up on the Big Ten.  When they play the better teams in National title games, they get smoked.  Pryor is a huge talent but he also has a 10 cent head at this point in his life.  For starters, he said he was going to the "university of Ohio State."  2nd, he excelled in AA ball, which in PA is only the 2nd level.  He didn't play AAAA.  Ron Powlus was supposed to win 4 heismans.  And Vince Young only got one crack at the title game - - and if USC hadn't done some stupid ass stuff that game, he would have left with ZERO titles.  And Pryor will not be as good as Vince Young.

2 major differences...

Pete Carroll is the best coach in the country and Mack Brown sucks
USC plays best in big games.  When was the last out of conference game they lost???  And, unlike Ohio State, they actually schedule several tough games.

hey JG, as I recall the last team to beat two number ones in one season was the buckeyes, they were the only team to play three 1 vs 2 games in NCAA football history, don't talk about what you don't know, Ohio State has consistently scheduled tough out of conf games, unless you didn't hear they have a home and home set up with Miami and Oklahoma after the home and home with USC, why don't you talk to the SEC teams or Big East teams that play no one out of conf.

because they beat up on the Big 10 you guys degrade them for that, it wasn't too long ago that the Big 10 was the cream of the crop and they still played tough OOC games, and although Ohio State does not have sucess against SEC teams in bowl games look at the history of the rest of the BIG 10 against SEC teams in bowl games.

I agree that other than last year Ohio State schedules 1 good non conference game.  Unfortunately for them, the other 3 games are cupcakes.  Is there any reason to play Youngstown State.  Yes, I know Tressel coached there but c'mon, playing a 1-AA team is a joke.
Look at USC.  There non-conference games are Virginia, Ohio State, and Notre Dame.

Who do you think will be better prepared for their showdown?  Ohio State after playing a cream puff, or USC after playing AT Virginia.

The BIG-10 used to be good.  It's in a major down cycle, the same way the PAC-10 sucked and is now a top 2 conference.  If you play in a weak conference, you'd better load up your non-conference.  FSU used to do that when the ACC was week.

Yes a couple of years ago they played in 3 1-2 games.  But, I think we can agree that Texas, Michigan, and Ohio State were overrated that year.  Ohio State will get respect when one of three things happen...

A) They beat USC in the coliseum
B) They win a BSC Bowl against an elite team
C) The BIG-10 becomes a force again.

JG33 aregree with your success statement but you can cut C off the list, if Ohio State beats USC and wins the National title they will get respect, if you don't remember they were ranked outside of the top 10 at the start of the year last year, it's not their fault that every other "great" team in college football lost their games, last year was supposed to be a rebuilding year but the casual football fan doesn't understand that.

    I wasn't saying all 3 have to happen, just 1 of the 3.  BTW, it's nice talking to a rational OSU fan and not a total loon like Godfather16.

I also agree about the Big East teams.  The SEC is hit or miss.  UGA, FLA, Tennessee, and Arkansas all have real schedules.

TP is not going to ensure anything. He will be a great player but if your calling out multiple ships in a row b/c of the signing of one player you are more crosseyed than the buck fans who traveled to NO thinking they were going to win. Just be happy with the fact that he signed ,and with all the intangibles just hope he makes more than an average impact for your team.
 
Will never forget that look on Tressels face in person. Priceless. Im just gald I was attending LSU during 2 NCs. Not many ppl can say that.

I believe what Tressel was talking about was the Buckeyes beat #1 Texas, and then #2 Michigan, when they were #1 vs 2 matchups, in 2006. I do know that they beat #1 Miami in 2002-2003, don't remember the last time they beat a #1 but in the 1960's and 70's there were a lot of big games involving the Buckeyes and they won their fair share of them.

JG, All things being equal, a team can't control it's conference schedule, but I just don't see this strong OOC schedule for USC that you claim. They are lucky that they have ND every year as that is a down program and likely will continue to be. Now Idaho, Virginia, those are quality opponents? Arkansas in 2006, consistently a mediocre team. And Nebraska, I have to give them a little credit on that, as about 10 years ago, they were a good program, but these games were probably scheduled when Nebraska was on the decline, and now they are in the shitter. USc in the past played teams like Florida st , V Tech, and Big 10 teams OOC, but I would say their schedule has been easy the past few years. Ohio st the past few years di go to Washington, no easy place to play, and a home and home w/ Texas, and have Miami FLA and OKL lined up. This is where the big money is guys. And obviously the Youngstown st games are a gift to Tressel's old school. OSU has given games to the other Ohio schools. OSU is not gonna get to many road games OOC unless they are home and home. OSU rakes in a lot of money at their games. Not too many teams wanna play them OOC early in the year and chalk up a loss.

I read the part about the 3 1 vs. 2 games clearly. For someone telling others that they shouldn't talk about what they don't know, I think you should have left out the part about them beating two No.1's because they didn't.

The last time OSU* played more than 1 loseable OOC game was 2002.  USC goes to Virginia- loseable. ND- always loseable. OSU*- loseable. OSU* plays one game against a loseable opponent and that is it. How can you possibly convince yourself that their schedule is in any way tough? At Washington and at Virginia are the same game. Where is the rest of OSU*'s tough schedule. Oh yeah, the gauntlet known as the Big Ten.

Hey, Coach:

Let's pretend I am a casual fan. Can you explain what OSU* accomplished that made it more than a rebuilding year? What did they do? Who did they beat of note? What was so great? As a "casual" fan, it appears they have a running back that is destined for the NFL HOF and a great corner. Some good players that look great against poor competition and not real good against the big boys.

Wash - 4-9 Lost to Arizona and Washington State
 
Northwestern - 6-6 with a loss to Duke
 
Minn - 1-11 with a loss to Fla. Atl.
 
Purdue - 8-5 with big win coming against Central Michigan
 
Kent-  3-9 with losses to Temple and Buffalo
 
Michigan St. -  7-6 with biggest win against Penn State
 
Penn State - 9-4 with a home win over Wisc
 
Wisc. 9-4 with home win over Michigan
 
Illinois -  lost to a team that lost to Iowa
 
Michigan - 9-4 with a loss to App. State

canes, you are obviously a Miami fan, get over it. This team used to be good but it's gonna be a long time man. Honestly, South Florida is a better program than Miami right now. That whipping that you took from Virginia, an average team, in the last game at the Orange bowl, shows what kind of gutless team this is.

    You say the Virginia is a loseable game, I think not. If it is loseable then that means that USC isn't very good. ND game is not loseable, ND had a good team for a few years and they suck now, if USC can lose that game that tells me they suck. OSU is a loseable game as OSU will be absolutely loaded this year, perhaps more loaded than any other team ever.

     Now who did OSU beat last year? Well they went to Penn st and dominated them. That is a very tough place to play. They went to Michigan and destroyed them, giving up 91 yards of offense to them. And these are 2 teams that won bowls. Their OOC schedule was not impressive but neither is anyone else's. I don't see any top teams scheduling a lot of other top teams. OSU has stepped up more than any other top 10 teams to schedule Big time teams. Virginia is not big time any more than Wyoming or Hawaii is, and you know it.

Michigan and Penn State didn't beat anybody. So.... that is what OSU* accomplished last year?  It is a joke that you guys actually think you are good. Miami may suck now, but at least when we had enough arrogance to play in the title game, we EARNED it. OSU* and their fans have an inferiority complex and they play it off with outlandish statements like the ones that you made and continue to make and telling us how good a win at Penn State and Michigan is. Even though App. State beat Michigan at Michigan and Penn State is undoubtedly horrible.
