Virginia at home and Notre Dame have enough athletes to beat anyone in the country on the right night. Akron, YSU, Kent, Massillon, St. Rita's do not. Virginia and Notre Dame would beat SC 1 or more times out of 100. OSU*'s schedule is a 0 out of 100. 0 chance. None. A joke of a schedule whether USC is on it or not.

Can you guys please stop saying at Virginia is a good OOC opponent for USC. Virginia is going to be terrible this year if you hadn't noticed. At Washington last year by OSU was a more difficult match-up as they had game breakers that could win games. And most teams schedule pathetic OOC games, so don't just single out Ohio St, who actually has top teams in their OOC pretty often.

And canes to answer your question what did they do? They made it to the fucking BCS title game in a rebuilding year!! How is that not impressive even if they did lose? I'm not an Ohio St fan, but it amazes me how many people deny them the credit they've earned. Them, USC and Oklahoma are probably the three best football programs around right now and all three are once again the favorites to make the BCS title game.

well beating Michigan always matters,  if you look at the games when they happened they were much more meaningful such as beating Purdue when Purdue was undefeated in their building at night.  They also played a tough Penn State team when they were riding high at night, and they did play for the NC which is important.  I can't comprehend how you understate the fact that they made the game.  However there were plenty of games that were much tougher than when you simply look at the end of the shcedule

and everyone gets so mad because Ohio State made it in by not playing.  Well guess what, why is everyone not bashing teams like Oklahoma or USC for loosing games to Colorado and Stanford respectively.  How do you think Illinois would fare against those two teams.  How about West Virginia loosing to Pitt!  Don't trash the Bucks because they lost to a quality opponenet and every other team that "deserved" to be there lost crucial games.

if you simply want to look at the end of the schedule results than lets also eliminate Nebraska from USC "good win."  NEB was possibly one of the worst teams in D1 and USC considered them a big match up.

Notre dame's gotta be better than last year, they were horrible. It's gonna be a while before they beat anyone good. Charlie Weis is overrated as a coach , if you are waiting for them to be a top team again it may be a long one. And Michigan beat Illinois last year, and a good Florida team in the bowl. Yes they lost to App st, but App st is a helluva team, they would beat a lot of Div 1 teams, and obviously they caught Mich on an off day. Anybody but you could figure that out. By the way, Penn st bet a good Tex AM team in the bowl. Now who did Miami beat last year? When is the last time this team won a bowl game?

Lets get back to the topic of this thread. OSU will maybe compete for 1 BCS title in the next 3 years.   OSU stands for "Thee"  Over-rated State University.   Yeah they may compete for a BCS title in the next 3 to 4 years cause they continue to recruit well, and the Big Ten's other teams just aren't that good.   I do think Jim Tressel is a good coach and will always have the Luckeyes ready to play.    But in end if they do make it to a BCS game, they will lose to a more fast and athletic SEC, BIG 12 or PAC 10 school.

This thread is hysterical. Mr. Tressell I respect your opinions as I've read alot of your post, but this one is just ludicris. In order to be the # 1 team in the country and win championships, you can't have a coach who has been terribly out coached in the past 2 National championship games and now you have a program that believes they can't beat SEC teams ala Florida and LSU. The look I saw on the faces of the OSU coaches and players and fans last year was just priceless. No matter what Godfather16 says, LSU flat out outcoached OSU, outplayed OSU and physically  whipped OSU. If OSU comes out early and gets there ass kicked by USC which they probably will then maybe this will put a end to all this BS about OSU and winning titles and being the best team ever BS. Best team ever?? Hell OSU couldn't and didn't even compete in either of the last two championship games. Win one and then we can talk, until then you OSU guys should really stop with all the BS.

Virginia played in the Gator Bowl against Texas Tech and lost 31-28. They had a good team last year, but they lose by far their best playing in Chris Long and bring in one of the worst recruiting classes in the ACC. Also, only three of their wins were by more than one score and those were against Duke, Pitt and Miami. If a few of the breaks go the other way last year they might not have been in a bowl game, let alone a bowl game on New Years Day. They won't be a bowl team this year, I guarantee that.

I actually think Notre Dame is heading back to being a football power very soon. They continuously bring in top recruiting classes, and Weiss just needs a bit of time to adjust to the college game in my opinion because he is a great coach, and an amazing recruiter. This team will be in the top 10 again in the next 5 years.

And you're right, the lose to Appy St isn't as embarrassing as people make it out to be. They dominated Div 1-AA and could beat many teams in Div 1. They are a team pretty much like West Virginia, that relies on speed on offense and a QB that can run for 300 yards in any game.

Chase, yeah they have had top recruiting classes the past severals years , and they were the worst ND team in a long time last year, and one of the very worst deams in Div 1 , only beating other terrible teams like Duke. So how did the top recruits do last year? Maybe they won't pan out, maybe they are just a b unch of scrubs, yeah they'll be better this year. LMAO

Since when does the time of the game factor into the difficulty? Is it tougher to win on national tv as opposed to regional? How about Thursday night or something like that. You can play Purdue at 2 am and they are still a sorry excuse for a football team. Them being undefeated at the time doesn't matter either. Miami was undefeated going to Oklahoma, I didn't hear anybody saying that was a good win in December.

You can say what you want about making the title game, that is just an element of what other teams did not accomplish. The fact remains that OSU* did not defeat a good football team in 2007. They got beat at home by an average team and they gave up 31 straight to LSU and pretty looked pretty inferior. If you want to say that you had a nice season in what was supposed to be a down year, that is fine, but don't try and tell me that you got a lot done last year, because the facts say that you didn't. If OSU* played 12 Ohio schools they would have been in the title game because they would have been undefeated. This is how stupid the system is and the system is the reason OSU* made it to N.O., not their on the field prowess.

Be careful Dumbfather, Miami beat that same Texas A&M team, in fact, blew them off the field and had a 34-3 lead before garbage time. Miami won a "bowl" game last year against Nevada. Before that, I think it was when beat a certain team from the SEC that wears orange and blue. This discussion is not about Miami, there is nobody saying that Miami is good at all. Miami is so bad that we only accomplished about the same things as OSU* this year. We beat FSU and Texas A&M about the same quality wins that OSU* had.

I would say that most of the Big 10 teams compare favorably with teams like Tex AM and Flor ST. NW, Purd, Penn St, Mich ST , Wisc, Mich, ill, Iowa, these teams are all as good or better. In fact it is clear that the SEC and Big 10 are the only deep conferences, where their bottome teams are at least competitive . Every other conf has 2-4 shit teams at the bottom that can't beat anyone.

and canes the timing doesn't matter, you are right, it was clear that when Miami was destroyed by UVA, with all of their past great players there, in the last game at the OB, it was clear that this team has really fallen into the shitter, and it may be some time before they are out. Like I said you are better off rooting for South Florida or Florida Atlantic.

On March 19th I'm still celebrating and laughing at all the OSU fans that left the Superdome in tears and with there heads between there ass. # 1 team for several years ?? Are you kidding me? In order to be the  # 1 team you have to beat a quality opponent in the National Championship game. As long as OSU has to play SEC teams the trend will follow. What is it now 0-9?? Not to mention the last 2 yeears was just total domination in all phases of the game. Offense, defense, kicking game and coaching. Face it fellas, it;s just not going to happen for you guys at OSU. But hey, enjoy those regular season wins, that's about all you have at this point.

pete, you sound pretty foolish, LSU is gonna be a worse team this year, OSU will be much better. OSU is perhaps more loaded than any team has ever been. They return all starters but 2, which is unheard of, and most of these guys are NFL prospects. You had a great D'Lineman leave, who is gonna replace him? This was a defense that was flat out garbage without Dorsey, and there are several other starters on Offense and defense that are leaving. Last year was LSU''s year, the stars aligned for them and got them into a home game BCS title game. You sound like an idiot that keeps betting on Notre Dame because they are always good and always beat Navy. Well, look what happened last year.

Godfather16, all I know is I made enough money on LSU in the title game to make my year. BTW did you anywhere see me saying anything about what LSU will do this year?? NO A defense that was flat out garbage without Dorsey?? Man you are smokin the good stuff. Ask your QB if Ali Highsmith is garbage. Ask your QB if Steltz , Chevis Jackson or Jonathan Zenon is garbage. I could on and on but that garbage defense made OSU's offense look like a confused little  playground football team. Look you've made a complete ass out of yourself and all OSU fans so maybe you should just keep your mouth shut till OSU wins a title. That won't be anytime soon. BTW that game against LSU last year could have been played out in the street and the result would have been the same. Total embarrassment to OSU's program. BTW how much money did you lose on the title game? LOL,LOL,LOL,LOL.

pete - ironically enough I did not bet on that game, did make a few bucks on the OSU last year though, and vs LSU and other overrated teams like that, I think there was almost a 2 month stretch where LSU didn't cover a game last year, and without Dorsey teams like Ole Miss, Arkansas, Kent etc were running all over LSU, he is a beast and without him the LSU D was not very good that is a fact.

Most definitly LSU was not a team to bet on during a stretch last year. Even with Dorsey not playing or playing on 1 leg, LSU as a team found a way to win. My point was if you ask OSU's offense I guarentee you they would say LSU's defense as a whole in that game was just flat out good and were well prepared. I've watched the replay many times Godfather and if you were to watch it and break it down you'd see how dominate LSU was in that game. Phsically LSU was much more aggressive on defense and our WR's were just flat out faster and more aggressive then your corners. Beanie Wells had 2 good runs in the first quarter and after that, he was missing in action. LSU made the adjustments throughout the game , whereas OSU didn't. Maybe we can agree to dissagree?  LOL.

LSU's D was good, Dorsey made several big plays and put a lot of pressure on the QB, with him they are very good, without him average.
