Come on people. Line opened at 16ish and is now at 24ish .....That kinda movement takes some money.....Its way to early to be a "steam play", so I gotta wonder if people are just being sheep......
Yes Akron is a perennial cellar dwellar and only covered 2 games last year (3 if you count VA Military).....
However, this is :
A) opening game
B) at night
C) on a thursday
D) UCF has Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes on deck
E) Akron has a new coaching staff including head coach Terry Bowden, special teams coach Jeff Bowden and DC Chuck Amato . Not saying they are the best ever, but are a huge upgrade and bring a ton of experience which means they gain instant respect and credibility from the players.
UCF only scored more than 31 points 1 time last year, and that was against Memphis (41) (not counting the 62-0 win vs Charleston Southern).....They will have most of offense back, but will be switching up at qb.....
Again, I'm not calling from a SU Akron win. But, a td swing always makes me take a peek...Total has also dropped from 49 to 47....Should be an ugly game....If I can get 24.5 I may make this a play.
Just food for thought.

Train, I agree with you.I'm partial to the Bowden "boys",as I cashed a few tickets betting on Clemson vs Florida State when Terry was the HC.Akron now has a first class coaching staff, and Tommy set ly starting QB down and named Dalton Williams (JUCO XFER). Starting QB.Moore (Sr.) subsequently transferred. He is starting to change the culture there. They could even be competative in the MAC.

i am personally of the opinion that anybody who wagers money on teams like Akron deserves the consequences that come with it... and they're not good...
so good luck with that...

AL, I am not wagering on Akron, but I will leave the option open to wager on them in the future. All I'm saying is that I believe they will be an improved team. They were the worst last year,so they can only improve.

The more I look at this game, and I'm trying to find a reason to like Akron. The more I like UCF.
But I saw in my thread on this game some recommend Akron TT under and that looks to be an excellent call to me. Akron offense was putrid and not getting better.

not arguing with that, Wiseguy... they will not be any worse than last year... but that's no reason to bet on them, especially in week 1...
so many games on the board, there is no reason to put money on Akron... if you don't like UCF, then stay away... but find better things to do with your money than bet on Akron...

Would never bet on worst team in cfb but another angle could be ucf is no longer bowl elgible so might come out flat in truely pointless game, whereas akron Will be throwing everything at them and ucf wake up after halftime and win, just a thought

I totally agree.I would not bet this game under any circumstances. But I will check the box score to see if there is any improvement.

UCF is going to beat the living shit out of Akron...the only reason this spread is not 30 is due to UCF's struggles to cover on the road last year...however, in 2010, they were 4-1 ATS on the road...
