I am a Florida fan and I agree, they shouldnt have moved up as far as they did with a loss to Ole Miss, and LSU was ranked as high as they were because of 1) they were undefeated, and 2) they are the defending NC's, and 3) they had a lot of key losses by teams early in the season. I think the LSU/UGA game and the UF/UGA game will speak volumes for the SEC east. Hard to say who would beat who when and where, lets play out the season and see.

UGA has lost 9 different starters at different times during this season. UGA will continue to struggle through the year.
UGA played Bama without Owens, Sturdivant, Southerland, Battle, and Tripp all starters entering the season. Chandler went out right after half-time I believe and Ellerbe was gone in the first quarter. We played a good part of that game without 7 starters or about 32% we were struggling to replace with younger less experienced kids. Bama's strngth on OL and DL played perfect against UGA's weakness from so many injuries since 4 of those starters were on the LOS.
UGA played Arizona State with only 4 of 9 starters on BOTH sides of the Line of Scrimmage and we still beat them almost as bad on teh road against a healthy Rudy Carpenter copared to USC's so-so showing at home while USC is far more healthy than UGA.
USC was down 21-0 at half to Oregon State. I forget, where is Oregon State ranked?
USC is over-rated. They are not nearly as good as everyone wishes to believe. They are an extremely talented team, but they are also very beatable.
UGA healthy is easily a top 5 team.
There are 3 true freshman playing OL for the ranked teams in the country. Ohio State has one and UGA has TWO.
There are 9 redshirt freshmen playing OL for ranked teams in the country, and UGA had 1 of those this past weekend and we may be adding another to that list this coming weekend.
If UGA were completely healthy, I wouldn't be afraid to take them in a bet straight-up against any team in the country, period.
As it is, I don't know that UGA is top 10 right now, but I think we are definitely still top 20.
How many other teams in the country have the depth to still be ranked top 10 in a poll and has had to have played the last 4 games missing 25-30% of the starters in each game.
Oklahoma fans were whining that losing their LB hurt them so much. Please, try playing a team without both your starting DEs, your starting DT, your starting MLB, and both back-up safeties (leaving us with a walk-on safety that was in the game 25 or so plays). IF one players makes that much of a difference, you damn sure don't belong in the top 10.
I said on a USC board before UGA played Alabama that the innuries to UGA's OL and DL would hurt badly against Bama. Bama was big and ohysical and they could take advantage of something that Arizona State was completely unable to expose.
LSU will be equally tough for UGA. UF will not bring the same problems. UF uses a finessee blocking scheme, and LSU will simply smash our young OL in the face and hammer our young DL (when they are in the game, about half the game) with their big OL. UGA has to get a lot better to handle the LOS against LSU right now. We can match-up with UF, but LSU in Baton Rouge will be tough and their strengths play right to our injury weaknesses right now just like Bama. I would be worried about Auburn, but I think they might have given-up this season.

Damn...UGA is always quick with their excuses....
Its like this, if UGA is playing without a lot of their starters and they are not as good as they "should be" because of it, then don't bitch about the rankings....
Yeah, a healthy team woulda, shoulda, coulda done this...but they are not...so therefore they don't get special attention because of it.
I don't care if they put 22 true freshman walkons on the field against Alabama, they got made to look inferior to another team in their conference. No way anyone can honestly say UGA looked like the 2nd best team in the SEC (given ALA is 1st) after getting drubbed like that at home...so a significant drop in the polls was deserving, and getting passed by teams like okst, and fla is warranted being their perfomances over the weekend.

I'm not making any excuses. I'm perfectly happy to be in the top 10 considering all the circumstances.
Point out one team with even close to the injuries UGA has right now to its starting line-up in the top 20. Maybe 2-3 teams in the country could suffer our injuries this season and still be where we are right now. That is pretty damn good if you ask me.
I'm quite proud the team has held together and is managing to hang around the top 10.
Some moron thinks that UGA losing to #2 Bama 31-0 at half seems to make us worse than USC losing 21-0 to a team that is STILL unranked and sucks.
In a couple years, a healthy UGA will have a junior and senior OL and DL and it won't matter who the QB or RB (though we have very good ones on the bench right now) is, we will win our games.
