Arkansas tight end Jeremy Sprinkle was suspended from the Razorbacks' Belk Bowl matchup against Virginia Tech, the school announced on Thursday shortly before the game due to "conduct detrimental to the team."
Coach Bret Bielema said Sprinkle's suspension wasn't drug, alcohol or violence related but didn't elaborate any further.
The suspension comes as a result of an incident during bowl festivities, according to SEC Country, which reported that Sprinkle allegedly attempted to shoplift from the Belk department store while the team was there for a bowl function. As part of the event, each player on both teams were given a free Fossil watch as well as 90 minutes to spend $450 on a gift card at the Belk store. Although no police reports were filed, SEC Country reported that Sprinkle attempted to take more items than the allotted cost during the event.
Sprinkle, a senior, had 33 receptions and four touchdowns this season.
