@ dustcakes.....Bama only gave up more than 14 once last year. Pitched 3 shutouts, including the national championship game, and allowed 7 or less in 8 games . So that's one example of a defense that didn't give up 24+ a few times.
Comparing MSU to the best D in the country last year and one of the best all-time is unfair.
Name 9 defenses that were better than that of MSU.

Great write up (per usual) loving the under here also, 7.5 maybe enough to have maybe playing Boise tho- good luck this season, tar heel. Eyes will be watching

Gholston and Rush make up an outstanding DE tandem, but I'm actually excited to watch their back-ups. A couple of redshirt freshmen that are athletic freaks! Shilique Calhoun, 6'4/240 lbs (#89) has been called a clone of Julian Peterson and gets to the QB in a hurry. And Lawrence Thomas, 6'3 295 lbs (yes, 295 lbs) (#8) is so athletic, he was actually gonna play linebacker up until a few weeks ago.

It's great to see college football on the horizon . I'm back for another season here at covers and I look forward to discussing this great sport/gambling with the forum. And then we have the haters, which will be here too.
Allow myself........to introduce myself. It's a pleasure to meet me! I watch every minute of every Michigan State game, and then watch a replay of the game on Sunday mornings. I also watch as many games of MSU's opponents as I can. So, I obviously follow the BIG pretty closely. Other than that, to be honest, I really don't follow that much of the rest of the country. My plays will be very limited this year, like probably 20-25 for the whole season. I've already got about 7 or 8 wagers picked out for the MSU games and a couple of other BIG conference games I love!!! I also throw down a unit here or there coatailing some of the better cappers around here, but you've gotta know who they are (which I do), and be able to weed out the frauds. On to the first game.....
Boise State/Michigan State UNDER 45.5 (1 unit)......I've been waiting to hit this total for 8 months and this was the first number I was offered . Vegasinsider.com showed that this total opened around 55, which is absurd. Then I saw it dropped to 52 and I was hoping to be able to hit that, but the first total I saw at 5dimes was this number. I still see value at this number, but not gonna unload on it like I had planned. I could write on this game for days, but will keep it to a minimum. I'll be happy to discuss this game with anyone that wants to though. Basically, I see it like this: Dantonio and MSU are gonna look a lot like Tressel and tOSU did. This is the best Sparty defense I've seen in my 30 years on this planet. It is stacked with playmakers/NFL caliber players on each level of the defense. And the offense lost virtually every playmaker it had last season. Sure, Bell is gonna be a stud, but he's a between-the-tackles runner. And we all know the Sparty passing game will take some time to gell. Boise State will be breaking in a brand new QB at Spartan Stadium on a Friday night vs that Spartan "D" that will be in beast-mode for this game? Not a very envious situation. I think MSU will struggle to finish drives, but should do enough to win the game. I'm saying 23-13, Sparty.
Good luck ya'll
, nice win!

Way off on the predicted score. Can you try harder next time?
Awesome call. Teased sparty/under thanks to u.
Do you think this is a sign of things to come? They cant keep giving Bell 44 carries or he wont make it to October. I think a lot of low scoring ugly games are in store this year as the defense is solid, but they cant let Maxwell loose or they face trouble.....

Yeah Train, I do think this is a sign of things to come. We'll be getting totals in the high 30's for some of the MSU conference games. They's flat-out gonna struggle on offense, there's no way around it. I thought Maxwell was OK, but his receivers were sub-par. Dion Sims at TE is gonna be huge this year, we've been high on him for a while now, he's just been hurt and has gotten in some trouble so we haven't been able to really see him play.
You're right, I mean Bell can't touch the ball 50 times a game all season (although my $25 bet on him to win the heisman at 120/1 would love to see that). But, that being said, he's a bad fuckin' dude. Tough as hell. He plays with a chip on his shoulder 'cuz he was only a 2-star recruit (seriously) coming out of high school and got passed up by Ohio State and Michigan. But nobody can touch the ball 50 times a game for 12 games! They're gonna struggle to score all year, but that defense is fuckin sick. If not for a few fluke plays, Boise might have gotten shut out last night!
On the plus side, that game did go almost exactly how I saw it going and there are some wagers coming up this season that I'm more confident in than last night's under, so should be a good year. As always, good luck to ya, I coattailed on a couple small plays
