I don't think they will have a let down, but I always get a much better sense of where the team is the week of the game. I really liked Bama the year they played Utah until all the issues with the defensive coordinator, Andre Smith, and players being tripped over cuz they were passed-out drunk in New Orleans reared their ugly head. That made me pass on the game, and thank God I did.
Michigan State, however, is not a Utah-type team. The Spartans are really a perfect match-up for Bama. I said the same thing about Penn State earlier this season when I went max bet on Bama. I think, like Penn State, Michigan State will struggle to score points. We know Bama's offense is borderline horrible, but I think the defense will carry the day, and carry Bama to a 24-10 snooze-fest cover.

Michigan State is the benefactor of an extremely weak schedule. They really only played two tough games all season, and neither of those teams have the athletes from top to bottom that Bama has.
When I say this is a good matchup for Bama I mean Michigan State's offense versus Bama's defense. The only defense they have faced that is even close to Bama's is Iowa against whom they scored 6 points. I see much the same in this game. I really don't see the Spartans eclipsing the 13 point mark in this game.
No offensive coordinator in college football has done less with the talent he has than Bama OC Jim McElwain. The only way Bama doesn't cover this game is if Bama's offense can't get out of there own way, which certainly is a possibility the way they've played this season. They averaged 24 ppg against the 8 respectable teams they faced this season. I wouldn't expect much more out of them than that.
In the end I think Bama's defense will get them the cover, but not by much.
