Hmmm. Taking Tuberville in a bowl game. In Hawaii. Original home of the fix. With a team that turns it over and takes a lot of penalties. Wow. Tempting. But no.
Cincy has had their moments this yr but ultimately coming up short on most occassions....#124 in turnover margin and #116 in penalty yards did not help them - now with their starting QB out - Moore looks pretty good to us and throws a nice ball but he had 9 TD vs 8 int and SD was #1 in turnover margin while featuring a punishing running game (Pumphrey / Price 2500Y 22 TD) and a game manager at QB - Smith is out - but Chapman looked fine last wk vs AF 9-14 203 Y 1 td 0 int...HC Long is 2-7 SU in bowl games and anyone that saw the ending of the Navy game last year made a blood oath to never trust him again in a bowl game.....having said that we LOVE this team - only the #114 ranked schedule but 10 wins including 9 in a row and a defense that plays well vs the run and the pass. Now of course - after winning the MW - and already getting 10 wins - they are human - can always wonder about the motivation - but we would always go against the flaky team and on the reliable team if we had to make a winning pick or leave covers forever after making a tear jerking farewell tour being sprinkled with rose petals. The reliable team is SD.
Summary. Lean SD St. Probably not gonna touch this game. We think if you like Cincy maybe the TT over is the way to go? They just might find their way to 4 TD SD has not faced many good passing teams.

]Tuberville's teams are very unpredictable.I took WMich then Under 1st half, split and called it the day.Ive had one the best NBA streaks I've had in a while so we will see what happens tmrw.

We were not a huge fan of Washington coming into the season with such a young team - even with a great HC - but they definitely exceeded our expectations - 6-6 does not seem like much but they had a nice road win at USC - and not that it counts for much - but a ton of close losses to good teams - oregon by 6 - boise by 3 - cal by 6...Ranked #27 overall by Sagarin and apparently had the #20th tuoghest schedule although we would have liked to see maybe one more quality win in there....The D has been the calling card - #1 in the PAC 12 and only allowed 9 TD passes all year despite playing teams like Cal Wash St (backup qb but still) and USC......Browning has played well for a young guy at QB and Gaskin emerged as a #1 RB....Not a flashy team - but underrated by many including probably yours truly.
S Miss has had a great year. Last 2 seasons were one-win and three-win campaigns and made it to the conf champ game this year losing to a rock solid WK team. Put up 400Y in every game this yr until the last game vs WK....have blown out all the cupcakes they should have (schedule #136??) - lost to Miss St....WK...and Marshall who they outgained but were -4 in turnovers. 4000YD QB and two 1000 yd rushers - will have to get on the hotline with our CUSA INSIDERS but that smells like something nobody else has done this yr....also a nice receiving core and OL. Really tough matchup to gauge because it seems to us that an offense this experienced and balanced should be able to move the ball some against a tough D....just hard to know how their weak SOS translates against the #1 D in the PAC12...Another reason why bowl games are so much fun - but very tough to handicap. The only possibility here is we see the potential for penetrationas SMiss was #1 in CUSA in TFL and #2 in sacks....Wash OL has been a bit sketchy at times.
Tough game to call - we would want 10 points to look at S Miss - and maybe we get it - but doubtful. No official lean yet still looking at the total.

Mega I'll add some notes since I've ridden the S.Miss wave like Johnny F'in Utah all year. Note they also played Nebraska early and between Armstrong / Dak the stronger QB's were making plays when it counts because SMiss was more/less hanging around late in those games, both covered but note S.Miss gave up huge run and pass yards to the stronger offenses in particular both QB's were dual threats, but they thoroughly suppress weaker team O's under 10 pts/game in many cases.
Marsh's pass rush really came alive against them and landed +4 TO's. (friday night road game, crowd was rockin) and they also exposed the S.Miss D when marsh ran a spread O which turned into easy 10 yd runs at first then S.Miss D dropped another in the box it was an easy pass completions...Marsh didn't stick to that the whole game so didn't end with tons of yards but WKU took that strategy and exploited it 400+ pass and over 100+ rush (3 rush TDs) and the O was on fire all game despite the S.Miss injuries.
So I am really capping Wash in this spot because i don't know as much about them, can they spread the field, how's their OL compared to Neb / MSU, does the QB a dual threat like Dak or Armstrong and do they have a formidable pass rush / DB's... put a + next to those and take Wash even at -10 put a - next to those and I'd be on S.Miss over a TD.... if +'s and -'s.. maybe run a fun bet S.Miss ML Win and the Over or Vice versa w Wash as I kinda feel like their Pass D will have to win this one for'em...
note I have no money on this one as of yet and wouldn't mind hearing what our Washington insiders can tell us. Good Luck to you Mega and My Fellow Mega Fans!

Have to go against our Canes in this one. We are a DOCUMENTED 2-0 in Miami games this year - one play on - one fade...Super pumped for next yr - have a long way to go to get to Florida St or Clemson level but at least there is some hope.
Miami finished the season strong and were 4-1 under interim HC...On the surface no big deal to end beating GT and Pitt - but this was after the UNC debacle and they could have packed it in. Kaayaaayyaaa has always impressed us hopefully next year he will have a better supporting cast - running game - and D - to do some special things. Overall we understand they make their hay in the passing game - but not thrilled about their #116 ranking rushing the ball and #107 against the run - our MATH INSIDERS but those numbers added together to give you 225 and no way no how Miami has ever ranked that poorly in those important categories collectively at least in the last 30-40 yrs....They also take a lot of penalties which is awesome - and they have two defenders suspended for the bowl game. They do not get much PENETRATION 12th in the ACC in TFL and #11 D in the ACC...They will move the ball same but they are not consistent enough imo on offense to keep up with a very efficient Wash St offense who should have no problem with the Miami D. They have only turned it over mind you 11 times all yr so a clean game gives them a legit shot to pull the upset but not sure that is gonna happen. Statistically - the Miami D not bad vs the pass but they faced 4 decent QBs in our eyes - gave up 33 34 58 59 to neb cincy clemson unc - maybe we are forgetting somebody but for real like for real - think their secondary can be torched.
Speaking of torched. The human SECONDARY TORCH Luke Falk was one of the most impressive players we watched this year - only got to see him a couple of times but WOW what a fine looking SPECIMEN....Yes he missed the Apple Cup with concussion symptoms but is apparently all systems go for this one. Remember in biology class when you dissected that bullfrog and threw the guts at the annoying kid with the weird lip thing? Well this dissection should be fun to watch we think Falk goes nuts. If he somehow misses some time - the backup got some good work in against the Huskies and some bowl practice reps. As far as the Wash St D goes - it all starts with - GENTLEMEN PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER FOR DESTINY VAEAO who is part of a very underrated front 7 and they have improved significantly from last yr...Think the Wash St D makes 1 or 2 more plays than the Miami D.
2 final notes. (A) weather. expected to cold with some rain - and a winter storm coming shortly after the game. Miami is not going to like that - sorry - anyone remember how they came out like arctic explorers all bundled up in this game a couple yrs ago vs ND did not want to play...Maybe not the same - but fool us once - shame on you - fool us twice - shame on us - something like that...Wash St edge even with their passing attack in any kind of non-Florida like conditions imo. (B) motivation - neither team has won a bowl game in forever. Wash St only 2 this decade and the last one in 2003. Miami has next yr to look forward to big time. Wash St wants this one more imo. HC Leach especially. Anyone who remembers how he butchered the final minutes of the Col St bowl game a couple years ago is probably still puking in a gutter somewhere. Full focus coming on Saturday.

Adding to Miami is a growing list of players who won't be in the Bowl and many came in the last few days which makes it great for the transitioning staff:
Recent won't plays for various reasons:
Safety Jamal Carter 1 start but #5 tackler, made alot of big plays
DL Courtel Jenkins 7 starts #14 tackler
OT Sunny Odogwu 9 starts
Also:
OG Danny Isadora - 25 consecutive starts - should "be ready to play" but been non-contact jersey and backup seen practicing, so at min the OL is not practicing all together but at worst the OL has a few new faces on it.
Can't see this team all coming together with the barrage of change orders in the line up over the last few days.
Will add that Inj reports are showing all questionable Wash St. Injured players are now expected to play.

Bridge - agree would love to hear from WASHINGTON INSIDERS like my pal MUGG
MEGA,
THEMUGG had a thread about early bowl lines. He likes both Washington schools. Personally, UW is my largest bowl play thus far. I'll see if I can find his thread and bump it.
With you on the Cougs in El Paso. So good luck to us I guess.
Hard to believe it's been 10 years since I last went to the Sun Bowl. Coach Randy Walker was wearing out the karaoke machine in the NU suite. That man loved being an entertainer, but when he stepped between the white lines, as intense as they get. That was the last game he coached, passed away unexpectedly the next spring. I'm off topic now, imagine that. To all that have lost a loved one this year, I hope the holidays are going well and you can reflect on the wonderful memories with them.
Mega, sorry for the off topic in your thread. Thanks for all that you do. Truly appreciated.

TD....u r so right about coach Walker...I was at Miami when he was coach, and I finished 2nd to him in a spaghetti eating contest at halftime of a basketball game. He loved the attention !! What a great memory of a guy that was such an intense competitor.
