I look at tonight's match-up between Buffalo and BGU and think that the sky is the limit as far as possible scoring production.
What we are going to see tonight, on both sides of the ball is offensive strength exploiting defensive weaknesses. This is a common formula for games that go over in the 3rd quarter.
Many casual fans will not know until right before kickoff tonight, that Bowling Green has hands down the best receiver in 1A college football, his name is Freddie Barnes. I would Barnes is in the conversation for being the best player in college football as well. The experts all seem to agree with me as Barnes leads the country in receptions with 99 (this is 32 more catches than anyone else.) This is clearly a result of him averaging over 12 catches per contest with an average of 132 yards per game. Barnes has reeled in 1,054 yards for the season to date with 9TD catches (2nd in the nation.) Biletnikoff Award, you bet your ass.
In Barnes last 3 games here is all that he has done....Kent State he 278 yards on 22 grabs with 3 TD catches. . He then dropped 160 yards, 10 catches and 3 TDs on Ball Sate . Last eek against CMU Barnes went off for another 14
receptions compiling 172 yards and a TD.
Here's the problem for Buffalo, their defense (especially the cover guys) are in such shambles defensively right now that they can't stop this guy. Buffalo lost starting Senior Chriss Storrs two week ago. This week you can add starting sophomore corner back Joe Petit (concussion) to that list...oh by the way Buffalo's other starting corner back Josh Thomas also looks doubtful as is . Yikes! Who is going to cover Barnes....and its not like we have Florida Gators depth chart at Buffalo U. To make matter worse the Buffalo had some promise in red shirt Defensive end in the pass rush, but he to is done for the year.
Last week at a news conference Buffalo coach Turner Gill joked again about how he "might have to suit up because the University at Buffalo has so many injuries." He may have been right, as last week Buffalo's mash unit D allowed Western Michigan Quarterback Tim Hiller (3-5 SU coming in) to complete 34 passes for 350 yards.
On the flip side, Buffalo has one bright spot. Thier running game is finally emerging. This is especially good news tonight because Bowling Green cant stop the run as they rank 2nd to last in the MAc in Run Defense. (210 yards against average 5.8 yards a carry.
In the last 4 contset Bulls RB Ike Nduka ran for 100 or more yards three times (including 2 games with 172 yards twice).
Bowling Green, in its last 6 games, has been out rushed (mind you this is not rushing yards allowed, this is how bad they have been out gained in just rushing) by 1,134 yards by their opponents. Holy Smokes? In each of the last 6 games were out rushed by more then 140 yards per contest (5 of these 6 games they were outrun by 160 or more).
I see no way this game goes under with the inability of either team to stop the others strength.
Way OVER 56!!!!

By the way...I would advise.. if possible...that every one get down on this game while its below 56 (as going to 56.5 is adding the extra possession over the 8 TD's) Most places are still at 55.5 now.
By kick there is no chance the market will be at 56

BTW...I have seen this guy Freddie Barnes play in person a few times...is 6-5 and fast as hell, he cant be tackled and doesn't drop the ball. He is going to like like an NFL all pro versus Buffalo's back up corners who is 5 inches taller then. Barnes has 4.6 sec speed...its men versus boys.
Everyone will know his name after tonight...the announcers will beat it to death...but he is that good!

Hope evryone bought over before it got steamed.. it may hit 58 or 59 by kick.
I think everyone thought rain was in the forcast and snow. I am looking at the weather nothing is moving in until 9pm and its only 10% chance. I will not bet on a Tuesday over though. Unders are 24-11 on Tuesdays...

I hear ya.... I just know these teams very well and the likelyhood here for a major scorefest. Buffalo will just not be able to stop to Barnes or QB Tyler Sheehan....who I mentioned in another form ....he sports a CAREER 64.7 completion percentage
while throwing for 8,743 yards and 58 touchdowns. Sheehan
currently ranks third in the nation in passing yards per game (334.6) and sixth in total
offense (324.4). Guy is a friggin' stud and will light up Buffalos patchwork D. We all know that BG can't stop the run.

I am 100% off the side.... I am going to say whoever has the ball last possession in the game will be the winner. Bothe teams D's are going to get so badly abused I have no idea who is going to get it worse..

m15525. Thanks for the write up. Big lean on the over and BG. It has Ike Nduka as probable tonight with an ankle injury. Do you have any more information about that?
