Made my 1st bet at the Stardust Hotel many moons ago and I'm still learning. Last week I said it wouldn't matter who QB'd Bama against lowly USF, aargh. I'm sure a couple of you had some pleasantries for me after that game, understood. Guess what Mrusso, it does matter, which is the perfect segue to tonight's huge matchup in South Bend.
Last season Ohio State won 21-10 at the Horseshoe led by C.J. Stroud while ND was QB'd by sum guy named Tyler Buchner, yea, same sorry ass QB for Bama last week. Yet halfway through the 4th quarter ND trailed by only 4, 14-10.
This year, new QB at both schools, Kyle McCord and Wake Forest transfer Sam Hartman. As a UNC fan, I've watched alot of Sam, he's a winner. He can make all the plays, more athletic than people think, he's scored 19 TDs rushing in his career, and he's smart. At 6' 1" a more talented version of Sam Howell, former Heels QB and current starter for the Washington Commanders IMO.
Both teams are talented and fairly equal, Buckeyes with MH Jr, advantage at WR but I'm giving ND a slight edge in the trenches with the big boys. Two good run games, Ohio St advantage in the secondary. But back to the QB spot, yup, it dam sure matters as Alabama fans will attest too. Sam is a legit Heisman contender. He's faced stout defenses before, both NCST AND Clemson, always one the premier defenses in the country, so he won't be rattled by anything Ohio State throws at him. Can't say the same for McCord, 1st big game OTR in a hostile environment, national TV, against an equally good team, how will McCord perform? Nope, gimme by far the better, more experienced QB on the big stage tonight. Football is game of mistakes, who makes them, who doesn't, much of that revolves around the QB. ND +140 to win, no need for the "luck of the Irish" tonight, they win outright-
ND +3, -110
As always good luck to all!
