I feel this is a total mismatch here, WKU did lose Doughty but bring back a lot on offense, probably the best set of skill position and o line players in the CUSA while Rice is still stuck in the 2nd tier of the conference, however they return a lot on defense but that defense is not very good.
WKU does have Bama next but with this being a conference game I don't expect much of a let down here and expect an easy win/cover
Good Luck to all this year

I do not see how Wky blows out this rice team. They will be VASTLY improved on defense, and should have more continuity on offense. Wky has been great and fun to watch for the last few years, but without having Daughty around, I'll have to pay to see them piss pound someone and break in a new QB...and with that defense how could you lay 3 scores?
My money would be on Rice +17 if playing...

You have a couple good points there my friends, I agree with you that Rice's defense will be improved as they are returning a good amount of players, but until they show they can get after the QB and force turnovers i cant say they are vastly improved, the front 7 looks ok but their DB play still looks like a mess, maybe the worst in the CUSA and they are going against 1 of the better WR group in the CUSA, i like that in favor of WKU.
Rice also returns a nice amount of their skilled position players but their O line play was really bad last year but should be a little bit better this year but it's still 1 of the worst in the CUSA, Losing Driphus Jackson is a huge loss though, his mobility was needed behind that crappy o line play, take away the rushing yards lost for sacks, he was their 3rd leading rusher. He had a 2.2% INT rate in his career which is really high for college football also a 3-1 TD/INT career ratio. The new QB has good size and a good arm, but lacks the mobility of DJ which could make him a sitting duck behind that bad o line
The loss of Doughty is big for WKU, he put up some insane numbers in his career, i do however feel he was a system QB as he was ignored in the draft. WKU is starting Mike White now who has played some at USF, and now with a year off to learn under Brohm and a drop in conference level should be able to run the offense pretty well, not as good as Doughty but enough to put up plenty of points
Hope you have a great season Shua and i will be following you on some of those FCS plays early this year

little worried about this under as i think Penn St's offense will be much improved, they bring back probably the best group of skilled position players and an improving o line however Kent's defense is a good one for MAC standards and with Pitt on deck i feel like Penn St wont show a whole lot. Penn St loses a lot on defense especially on the d line but i dont see Kent being able to take much advantage of their inexperience

Penn St - Kent Under 46

I rode WKY last year but losing their 2 best offensive players makes this a wait and see for me. I need to see that offense repeat before I get back on the wagon.

This puts me in mind of bookieassasin's fine advice recently....pick the teams to break out before everyone else does..then you ve missed the bus....great point above in thread about qb being a system player...WKY is the real deal and it IS Rice for goddsakes......
