Nothing like a well timed, well orchestrated hit piece by ESPN & the bammers to try to knock the Tigers down when they are on top of the heap.

This is a sad story. I hate when stories like this tarnish the great game of college football. With the fall of Alabama and Florida, and the rise of Auburn and Oregon, I think this has been one of the most interesting college football seasons in some time. The Iron Bowl was shaping up to easily be the game-of-the-year, and I have tickets to it. I would hate for it to be ruined by some dumb shit like this.
I usually try to limit my posts to my personal opinon and facts, but I will say that rumors of Auburn engaging in a bidding war for Cam are not new to me. I heard of it back in August before the season started. I had no idea back then if there was any merit to the story, just as I have no idea if there is any merit to the story now. I will say, however, now that the MSM is running with the story, this certainly doesn't augur well for Auburn. Personally I'd hate to see the great Alabama/Auburn rivalry ruined by this kind of violation. It was just starting to get good again.
As Swizzol has said, this puts Auburn in a very difficult spot. If Auburn is found guilty of violations down the road, they would probably minimized the damage by sitting Cam from this point forward. On the other hand, if they decide to roll the dice and play him the rest of the season under this cloud of suspicion, then any future punishment could be very harsh indeed.

So, when and if it is proven that these allegations were true, I wonder how many of the posters that are bashing Swizzol (calling him an idiot, an asshole and worse) will come back and man up and extend a true apology. My bet would be none
I'm just saying

The Heisman is a worthless, crappy award usually given to the QB or RB on the "perceived" best team at the end of the season, and it should not even exist. They already do the smart thing by acknowledging players by position with awards like the Unitas, Davey O'Brien, Outland, Lombardi, etc. at the end of the season.
Now, if you want to talk about Cam Newton having problems with the NCAA, enlighten us. But leave the Heisman Award out of it, as it is irrelevant and has NOTHING to do with the story or any story for that matter.

From the SI story quoted:
SEC and Auburn have apparently known of the allegations since at least July, yet Newton has not missed a down. In most cases, if a player's eligibility is even remotely in question, a school sits him until the matter is resolved (as North Carolina did with several players earlier this season.) Either Auburn did its due diligence and feels confident Newton's family did no wrong, or it's taking an incredibly brazen risk in suiting up a player at the center of an ongoing investigation.

As I said in my first post, I hate this kind of BS in college football, regardless of what team it is. This is shaping up to be an epic Iron Bowl, the first in many, many years. As a Bama fan (and most Bama fans I know feel the same way), I would love nothing more than for a 1-loss Alabama team to beat an undefeated Auburn team for the right to play in Atlanta the following week. That's as good as it gets in college football.
The problem is that there is this thing called reality, and reality is that Auburn is being investigated by the NCAA on the recruitment of Cam Newton and, contrary to what some have said in this thread, this investigation has absolutely nothing to do with Mississippi State. This is all about Auburn, Cam Newton, Cam Newton's father Cecil, Kenny Rogers, Trooper Taylor and some other Louisiana kids. That is not rumor, that is fact.

I have read all the stories that have been printed about this in the mainstream media. I'm well aware of all of it, and have been aware of it for a long time. If you really want to read a story that is at the heart of the NCAA investigation, read the link below. The part that has piqued the interest of the NCAA is the last line of this article.
I won't post any rumors, I'll simply post a link to a story that is at the center of the NCAA investigation. I'll let the readers come to their own conclusions.

I'm not an Urbam Meyer fan at all, but this is not true. It is true that Dan Mullen and Urban Meyer are still very good friends, and talk on the phone almost everyday, but Meyer has absolutely nothing to do with the NCAA investigation whatsoever. That I can tell you with confidence.

I will tell you that the problem with Cecil Newton's assertion that he wasn't close to Kenny Rogers is that photgraphic and video evidence show that Rogers accompanied Cam and Cecil on every recruiting trip.
Cecil Newton is the Bishop of 6 churches in a 45-mile radius, and also owns a construction company that supposedly has no customers. Those are the financial records that most interest the NCAA. They have yet to receive them. This is the impetus of the investigation.
Also, keep in mind that pursuant to the US Supreme Court ruling in the NCAA v. Tarkanian (Tark the Shark), the NCAA is a private organization that is not restrained by the 5th and 14th Amendments of due process. Membership in the private organization known as the NCAA is voluntary, and therefore the NCAA can pretty much do whatever they want. If they want to act on rumor and speculation, they have every right to do so. That's not to say they will, but they can.

I heard his Dad has disclosed all finances. But his Dad's Dad somehow bought the Colt 45 and Night Train distillery for 4.5 million. Not just yesterday he could not afford even a bottle of each at 7-11.
Sounds a little fishy to me.
