Just to make it clear...I'm not a fan of any team...just my money.
I think this is a rotten story. The NCAA makes hundreds of millions on these kids who are in school for 'free education'. Horseshit. Auburn did nothing wrong, but according to NCAA rules, they now have a 'dirty' player at QB. If Auburn chooses to play him, then Auburn will be 'dirty' in the eyes of the NCAA.
Cam Newton's college career is over. His football career is probably over too.
So there is no way the story is bullshit?

Your dreaming in fantasyland. Newton will be on the field Saturday and for the rest of the games this year. Auburn would have never played him if there was any possibility something was amiss, and they've know about this since last summer.
Your also implying that Newton is either part of or the mastermind of this pay for play allegation. The original article doesn't implicate Newton in the least, only the MSU booster/football development company owner.
Only thing that will come of this is a ban on this rogue MSU booster. NCAA has already been all over Newton's parents and collected financial statements from them. You'd be a fool if you don't think Auburn did all this plus more due diligence back in the summer.
Besides, if Newton or his family were hard up for money, well just so happens Newton's older brother plays center for the Jacksonville Jags. And if Newton was on the take, why in the heck does he drive a scooter around Auburn as his transportation. Why not show up in dodge chargers or escalades like half the crimson tide drives around town.

"It's to early to say but talking to his sources it's going to get really
bad for Auburn in the end....Cam Newton will go on to the NFL after
the season and could careless what happens...AU will be the school that
will get hammered for this and if some of the things being said comes
out to be true and AU knew and paid for Newton and it sure seems to be
smoke there...you will be talking about killing off a program for the
next 10 yrs the way the NCAA will hammer them"

Herbstreit's take...

It's an accusation as of now. I'm going to get bashed for saying this but, Get your head out of your ass. You're sounding like a Bandwagon Alabama Fan.

From what I am hearing it was not actually Herbstreit that made those comments. Can you tell me where I can see them for myself?

I'm not a fan of any team. I don't like 'Bama and I don't like Auburn, unless I have cash on 'em. I'm just telling it like it is.
I think is sucks. It's been a thrill watching Cam this year. I was really looking forward to the Iron Bowl, and I'd have been rooting for Cam and Auburn in that game. Now, I don't know. Even if he plays and they win, the NCAA will strip the win from the team.
As a HUGE fan of college football, we all lose as a result of this situation.
Yes, you can say it's an allegation...but the New York Times, AP, Washington Post, Sports Illustrated...and everyone else is running with the story. It does not look good.
When was the last time all MAJOR media outlets ran with a story like this and it turned out being false??? It does not look good.
