Play #2 will be the Buffalos + 7 against Hawaii. I fully expect the Buffalos to win this game straight up, but I will take the +7 rather than taking a shot at the ML.
Colorado had a great year last year and even in their 4 losses they were very competitive. Record should have been a lot better than it was and they played a very strong Big 12 schedule.
Colorado brings back virtually all the starters from that team, so The Buffalos will have even a better year this year.
Conversely, Hawaii loses just about everything except Monitz. Hawaii wasnt even that good last year but their weak ass schedule resulted in a nice record.
Colorado will handle this game easily and probably win it outright.

hawaii has 6 of the 8 that rotated back on Defensive Line hawaii has 5 LB's that have starting experience, (aaron brown and corey Paredes)
Hawaii has 3 guys with experience back in the Defensive Secondary --------------------------------------------------------------------
colorado loses 3 of their top 4 in the receiveing corp colorado loses all time leading passer colorado loses 2 of 3 starting LB's colorado loses 2 starting corners from LY, now starting 2 sophomores colorado starts a sophomore at Kicker and Punter
not trying to neuter your argument for Colorado, but saying they return "basically everybody" is just pure hogwash...

Colorado was dreadful against the pass last year, one of THE worst in the nation,110th passing def.(259.75 ypg) and 112th in pass eff. defense. Now they must move on without starting CBs Jimmy Smith and Jalil Brown. You might think that that could be a good thing for a pass defense that bad, but both were NFL draft picks (Smith was a first rounder). Hawaii meanwhile was #1 in the nation in passing offense (394.29ypg).
Hawaii does have to replace virtually everyone around Moniz but this is still Hawai'i and they are going to be slingin' the ball all over the field and I don't think that the Buffs defense can do much about it.

er.....you guys are aware the Buffs beat a MUCH stronger Hawaii team LY 31-13...out gaining them 452-337?...
Hawaii?.....early should be much weaker ...they lose their most productive RB in 20 years or so...and 5/6 WR (300 receptions or so).....a total of almost 5800 yards .....gone Warrior D looks to be better...
Buffs learning new systems.....but should be better on offense....defense about the same...potentially better late....secondary loses 2 NFL players ...but does return 8 guys that have started ....no reason to think they can't keep this one close
The impediment to action advances action - what stands in the way becomes the way.

you boys are being way too hard on my man 70P....

What are you talking about? Colorado had another terrible year again in 2010 and it doésn't look much better this time around either.
Colorado hasn't won a road game in 3 years. Until they do so, I can't give them any credibility on the road (regardless of who they play).
It's possible they cover, but your reasoning is beyond hysterical.

i dont see a legit side in this game, Last year when they played Hawai'i dominated most of the 1st half but was only up 10-0 with 2 other possesions inside the 5 lead to no points. Colorado came out in the 2nd half and dominated both lines and outscored them 31-3 for an easy win and a cover, hawai'i was coming off a tough win at army an stayed in nevada for the week instead of flying home this + the light air might have played a part in this. hawai'i lost its 2 best WR and 2 best RB who combined for 49 TDs. Colorado isnt very good on defense and Moniz could have a field day even without the weapons he had a monster season with last year. Colorado also gets their 1st taste of a pac 12 team the next week with Cal coming in ( although its not a "league" gam, because this game was already scheduled before they joined the conference) looking for some revenge/respect from the ass kicking Cal gave them in Berkley last year. i just dont see a huge advantage either way in this game

You forgot, they also lost their coach Hawkins who obviously only cared about making his son the all-time leading passer in CU history.
Back to the ground and pound!

the line is extremely fishy with Haw catching 7 and all of you are talking about Hawaii defense are you kidding me; do you not remember their bowl game when they had their entire offense and defense and got 62 HUNG ON THEM; Hawaii only recruits HAWAII players they are SOFT versus Col recuits from various sites. Yes Col is HORRIBLE on the road and so are a lot of teams; but to say Hawaii defense is going to be the reason they win this game is ridiculous. NOONE knows how Hawaii offense will pay returning 3 players total and its not like Hawaii is a very deep team; they run maybe 2 deep and they suck. The line screams trap but getting 7 on the road versus a terrible defense and an offense that will have problems against a defense that has plenty of talent sounds appealing. Col troubles on the road is a huge reason for this line but this is the first game of the season so Col wont have all the problems other teams have during the season. Col doesnt have to win the game they just have to cover. Good luck on your play but Hawaii has way too may ?? marks to play them and this may be a game where getting seven looks too good to be true and Col wins the game 35-31.

Also Col doesnt play weak ass teams like Hawaii does yes they got blown out AT OU AT CAL AT NEB AT MISSOURI and lost a close game AT Kansas; if Col played the creampuff schedule that Hawaii played last year their record would have been much different; Hawaii would be 0-4 against the same teams col lost to so comparing schedules is really futile and a stupid way to handicap games. It's like the this person beat this person beat this person way to cap games. It never works. Each game is played differently.

I haven't liked what I've been reading in the UH papers/blogs and now this (copied from my post in the injuries thread earlier);
Hawai'i - Has lost 2 starters due to suspension for the Warriors opener against Colorado. OLB Aaron Brown and WR Darius Bright were involved in a fight late last night in Waikiki.
This is a rather signifigant development as Bright (6'3" 230) who has 4.4 speed was the stretch WR on an offense that was already woefully short on expierience and depth. He will be replaced with Allen Simpson (5'7" 145). The defense is impacted greatly as well as their best player MLB Cory Paredes will now have to switch to OLB and he will be replaced by 5'11" sophmore George Daily-Lyles. Brown (6'1" 220) is a senior who was 2nd team All WAC LY.
This news combined with a less than positive week of practice and there is no way that I can back Hawai'i now. Good luck with your Buffs.

i like hawaii -7 here at home for their opener, they always play their best at home and opponents seem to play their worst here, colorado isnt that great of a team to begin with, and to compare schedules is not a good way to handicap a game imo 2 of the best home teams in ncaa is hawaii and boise st, hawaii has chance to take over where boise left off, i can see them coming to destro colorado

Good points you make Handicapper33, 29, and vegas cruncer 1. I didnt have a lot of time to do a long write up so I just put the main points.
Still like you guys say, Hawaii should not being laying 7 points against Colorado. I know the game is in Hawaii this year but Col kicked their ass last year. This is much the same Colorado team and Hawaii lost much of their team.
Game is in Hawaii, but I will still take the better teamand the TD even though I am on the road.
