Link to this claim? No part of the new story has anything to do with Alabama helping their players receive agent money. A decent player, Luther Davis, didn't make it in the NFL. He wanted to get into the business and promised agents he could deliver SEC talent from various schools- Bama, Tennessee, Miss St, etc. He allegedly gave them a few hundred here, a plane ticket there, or bedroom furniture. None of the players signed with his agents and his new career probably looked bleak. Also, it's a felony in Alabama to do what he attempted to do and would face jail time if pursued. Luther Davis was disassociated from the University and was turned in to the NCAA by Alabama in December when they found out he was up to no good. He then takes his story to Yahoo for whatever reason (money to pay back agents?? I don't know. The co-author of the story said on a radio interview yesterday that none of the information would be turned over to the NCAA and that they would have to gather all of the info themselves. Their point wasn't to get various schools in trouble but to show what's wrong with the NCAA right now. Not to mention all of the players but one (Tennessee) are no longer in school. Bottom line- it's a black eye for all involved but nothing will come from it. The University of Alabama was not involved and work very hard to keep their players out of this situation. The part involving Fluker appears to be focused mainly around his mother. Fluker and his family lived in a car after Katrina and could barely survive. If he did do something shady to help his Mom have a roof over her head, who can blame him? Also, he and Luther Davis were former teammates and could say it was a loan from a friend. The NCAA needs to really look at it's current rules and processes.

Perhaps. I'm a fan of Bama and follow them closely. I bet against them some weeks and bet for them some weeks. I try to use my knowledge of the program to my $$$ advantage. The statements made regarding a death penalty and the university helping set up payments from agents are asinine. It's definitely a black eye for the program and disappointing to Bama fans. I'm moving on to the game and the rest of my football wagers this week. Good luck to you guys.
