Dooley, 41, is 17-20 in three seasons at Louisiana Tech with a 12-12 record in the Western Athletic Conference. His Bulldogs went 8-5 and 5-3 in 2008 and won the Independence Bowl. Dooley has a law degree from Georgia and a bachelor's degree in government and foreign affairs from Virginia, where he played receiver. He took over the athletic director reins at Tech in March of 2008.
The son of legendary Georgia coach Vince Dooley, he came to LSU in 2000 with Saban as the Tigers' recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach through signing day of 2003. He was special teams coordinator and running backs coach from 2003-04. Dooley was tight ends coach with the Dolphins in 2005 and 2006 before taking the Tech job.

Not the "sexy" name that everyone thinks needs to happen on all hires. Recruiting coordinator for Nick Saban at LSU, a couple of #1 classes. Saban took him and Muschamp to Miami with him. Give him a chance, you never know. It could be worse, at least it aint Cutcliffe.

i like it..at least he will keep the coaches we have and he will recruit and want to be there...espn is reporting that it is not final and they are talking to houstons sumerlin..we won alot of games with phil fulmer...we are tennessee.we will be back and be fine. espn is reporting everyone including fulmer has turned us down
calhoun cutcliff didnt come because they wanted to replace all the coaches we have in place..hamilton wants to keep kippy brown and lance thompson..why wouldnt he they are two of the best at what they do...muschamp is the only one to turn us down...

UT is better program than USC.
That takes a lot of Wild Turkey to convince yourself that this is a good move. They just fell a couple of spots in the SEC.

Ecstatic. If you've read other post, I dont care about Kiffin. I care about the staff he's bringing. AS I'VE STATED, people outside the Trojan dont understand why we're thrilled, and I get why they don't. But we're familiar with him and the guys on his staff. Its a comfort level. Had they brought Riley in, who i love as a head coach, uncertainty would fill my head. I dont know if he can recruit. Not sure how he would change the system.
Kiffin wont change a damn thing. And thats what I wanted. He'll ruffle more feathers, but i could give a damn.
if we only could have picked up Norm Chow too, that would have been the icing on the cake. Still wondering who he'll bring as the next OC.
So yes, I'm very excited. 2011 is the season I'm looking forward too.

i dont even know what Ed O did at Miss, but I can guarantee you he was directly involved.
How exactly was PC or anyone on his staff involved with the Bush situation? Tell me, please. I have to yet to hear one person on the USC staff involved in that situation.
I was upset at hearing what Ed O did when he left UT. I felt it was an unwritten rule to steer a kid your way when you leave. I understand why coaches do it, but I always felt it was an unwritten rule. But what exactly do you think will happen to Ed O in this situation? You think he's goign to get penalized? NO. So whats the problem? YOu gotta recruit man. Do what it takes. They will always be overly aggressive, but as long as money isnt involved, all they will get is a slap on the wrist.

I can live with that. Not sure why UT is too comfortable with this hire though, especially when you could have had a guy like Cutcliffe, who is actually familiar with UT. You just cant get turned down by a Cutcliffe. You cant.
You know they think highly of that program. I'd be scratching my head and rethinking about my program with this signing.
Hamilton should be fired. He hired a guy (Kiffin) who should have never been hired, than followed that up with this hire. He needed to make a splash, and he didnt.

I think that Hamilton's days are numbered in Knoxville and rightfully so.
