and Dooley doesnt look like the type that could rub elbpws with the Meyers and Sabans.
For all the hate thats being thrown Kiffin's because of his antics prior to coaching his first game, he was just trying to make UT relevant again. He did his job. He knew he was being a jackass, and that was his plan. Fullmer left that program in shambles. Look what Kiffin did with the office in just one year. Does anyone really think Bryce Brown would have ended up at UT with Fullmer their last year? Not a chance.

I think that Hamilton's days are numbered in Knoxville and rightfully so.
He sealed it today. Only one man can save his job. Derek Dooley. Just like Mike Garrett owes his job to PC, the same could be said with Hamilton and Dooley.

Ecstatic. If you've read other post, I dont care about Kiffin. I care about the staff he's bringing. AS I'VE STATED, people outside the Trojan dont understand why we're thrilled, and I get why they don't. But we're familiar with him and the guys on his staff. Its a comfort level. Had they brought Riley in, who i love as a head coach, uncertainty would fill my head. I dont know if he can recruit. Not sure how he would change the system.
Kiffin wont change a damn thing. And thats what I wanted. He'll ruffle more feathers, but i could give a damn.
if we only could have picked up Norm Chow too, that would have been the icing on the cake. Still wondering who he'll bring as the next OC.
So yes, I'm very excited. 2011 is the season I'm looking forward too.
Dan Dooley. Wait. Is it Don? Or Derek?
you are misguided on so many levels. just do me one favor..
watch LK's press conference and then watch Dooley's....then tell me who has a future? who has class? dignity? respect?
enjoy kiffin....hes right where he belongs. back at "home" in LA LA Land surrounded by flakes. he's a perfect fit and hes all yours.

So thats all you need? Class, dignity and respect? Its no wonder people say we americans are soft.
Richt has everything you mention. But he cant compete with the Meyers and Carroll's because he;s just too nice.
You take the nice guy. Nice gets you far in this world.
Bill Bellichick. Nice? LOL.
Meyers. Nice? LOL
I bet when people talk about Saban, they talk about how nice he is and how great his dignity is.
This aint the Ms. America pageant.
I've already stated LK sounds like a creep and cant talk. But hey, being nice is everything, huh?
if you think having class, dignity, and respect are meaningless, then you just dont get it. urban meyer and nick saban have it. and they are successful. i didnt say anything about "being nice"...those were your words.
but its ok , i understand its easier for you to make immature little jokes regarding Derek Dooley. instead of trying to find something out about the guy, youd rather take shots at him. thats why you are already supporting LK, he's on your level.

I agree. What did people want? Once Will Mush turned them down they were not getting an elite coach.
Simple and plain they needed to get a coach that was not going to bail on them and had success before in the SEC.
Not saying he had success coaching in the SEC but he knows what it takes to recruit and handle a team.
Reasons I think he can succeed:
-This guy can flat out recruit
-This is the BEST job he could ever have hoped for (he wants to be there!)
-Tennessee fans are expecting the worst
-This guy knows what it means to be in the SEC
-He knows how to run the fucking ball
-Jim Tressel was OSU's 4th option (blessing in disguise)
out of thousands of posts on hundreds of threads on about 10 different sites ive been following all week, this is the most intelligent one ive read...thank you

looks like Kyle Whittingham also turned down a last minute desperate offer....... https://www.deseretnews.com/article/705358767/Utah-Utes-football-Whittingham-turns-down-Tennessee-coaching-job.html
Vol fans spin it any way you want ......nobody wanted the job,,,,,> ,Whittingham turning a down job that would TRIPLE his salary?....close to it
seems to be a solid guy/coach......although record didn't reveal it......5-7.....8-5......4-8 in his 3 years....(previous 3 years >.... 3-10.....7-4......6-6)....team improved under his tenure .. he recruited slightly better than previous coach..... * Rivals rankings # 76....#86......and were at #86 this year.....previous 3 years....#89 (shared here.....hired 12/06)....#77....#94....
and yes he did run the ball better...vs nations worst run D's....SJSU # 118.....fresno 117.....NMSU 113.....USU 109.....hawaii 103.....idaho 98 in his 3 yrs they av 4.9......5.2......and 4.9 (conf play) 3 years prior .....4.4......4.0.....5.7
stopping the run?.... 3.4......2.8.....3.9.......not bad...many teams weak but do have boise....nevada and fresno before?.....6.1.....3.7....3.9.....(they sucked in Bicknell's last year 2006).
with 5/6 starters back....28/44 of 2 deep return....lose QB/RB + punter and kicker....new systems /terminology.......GOOD LUCK....... ugly run at seasons beginning..... tenn martin > DUCKS > GATORS > uab > @ LSU > @ GA > bye > BAMA > @ S CARO > @ memphis > OL MISS > @ vandy > kentucky
6-6....> minor bowl looks about right.....easily go 5-7 though......> you ain't beatin the ducks forget it
nuthin to brag about .....but he should do fine.......although massive coaching mismatches in more than a few games.......> (not desirable)......maybe outcoach Joker we'll see

dooley will be fine but to think the vols had to settle after being turned down by the DUKE coach is hard to fathom,,draws a major---WTF
There is alot more involved than Cutcliffe turning the job down!!! There are some coaches that are still under contract at UT for another year or so...I think one of them is even Kiffin's brother in law (wtf)....nevertheless, Cutcliffe would have come if he could bring his whole staff which could not happen.
