THURSDAY NIGHTS HAVE NOT BEEN KIND TO ME AS OF LATE HOWEVER I FEEL REAL GOOD ABOUT TONIGHT!
TONIGHT
The USF love on the board is understandable. USF beat Notre Dame and blew out three cupcakes that has padded their stats and made this team look like Big East contenders. Pitt on the other hand has faced Buffalo who had proved to be tougher than preseason reviews. They then blew out Maine. Next the Panthers lost but played tough against a Notre Dame team who was hungry for a consecutive win after losing two games in which they were in control. Pitt lost that game in the 4th Q. Finally they also lost at Iowa where Pitt was up by three scores in the second half only to meltdown in the 4th and give up 3 straight touchdowns. Suniseri uncharacteristically threw two picks in that game. Which brings us into tonight.
When betting on games you have to observe more than just records and team stats. You have to see their level of competition, the actual talent and experience thats in the team and most of all the spot the team is in. Tonight all three of those that I mentioned favor the Pitt Panthers. They have the most talented player on the field in RB Ray Graham. They have the more talented defense and please don't argue this. USF got exposed by Notre Dame the only formidable offense they have played who blew up for 508 yards. This achieved while also committing 5 turnovers! Now the spot Pitt is in is very favorable they are in a must win situation and playing at home on Thursday night puts them in the easier position to get the W. Not to mention they own this USF team winning the last three meetings between the 2.
How the Panthers will slowdown Daniels and the USF offense is by pressuring the the senior QB. Pitt is 23rd in the nation with 11 sacks thus far so they like and can get to the QB. Daniels has proved in the past when you pressure him he is not very effective. I believe the Panthers D will make his life miserable today. He is not a very good downfield passer and thats the only weakness of the Pitt defense. On offense Pitt will grind it out on the perimeter with the elusive Ray Graham. The DE's of USF are talented but are small and if Graham gets blocks to the outside which is likely, he will have a big game. This will open up holes in the USF secondary for Suniseri. He should have success in the controlled passing game as USF corners like to play off the receiver. I expect him to have a big game tonight. In a close game I trust that Pitt at home who rarely turns over the football to get the W and prove they are still at the the top of the Big East.
