Insanely low temps / first games ... some teams in the power outtage zones windmills froze / no heat at home?.. not sure but that could add alot more odd-ballness to this week...
At early juncture gunna have fun w teams who played some fall ball / did ok in the portal / return a QB and didnt have rest of off gutted / capable of stopping run or at least not a sieve usually ...
Austin P -6.5 .. hope they find a QB
JVille State -15 ... won the portal war but QB is ?
SDSU / NIU Took under 42.5 .. -2 degrees ...
S.ILL -6 ... portal wins played a fall game returning qb w 8 starts .. ND gotta be excited to join the MV so maybe a tough road opener?

Hope NDSU blows the doors off here .. couldnt dream up a team more likely to be overrated would be like bama wins every year and you barely even heard of any other team they play ... doesnt mean they wont live up to where the analysts put them but cant imagine bookies are looking for them to cover > 50% and if Bison suffer a dip in MoV this spring would expect fading to moneymaker ... Same maybe for jackson state, the hottest team in fcs... lets see them blow the first few then see if we can find a few fade-away jumpers ...

Northern Iowa play in a dome, I actually like the over 42.5 there, UNI lost some defensive players, both teams have good QBs and a few dangerous playmakers

No power... not much likely this week from my cell in car .... SECEDE!!!! wait lemme thaw my balls 1st ha
Did early BOL numbers that were way off Sagarin's super small.. Home Dawgs / no research
N Iowa +6'
N Dakota+6
Mizz St +10
*Added NMSU P
* in El Paso - tough rebound from that loss.... might play TSU 1H
SDSU / UNI
LY - SDSU won 38-7.. Then UNI won 13-10 in playoffs at home SDSU's best O players ( QB Gibbs and AA RB Strong) DNP or hurt in both Both lose great players on D, but return a few as well. UNI does have top QB in McElvain and ps AA WR Weston. UNI has more ps all conference players than NDSU and adds 6/7 FBS transfers.
Cua - not a bad idea. Lookin at that too.... Very little tackling in practice

BA, liking this FCS thread! Not as much time lately for studying FCS teams in depth, kids are growing up fast and lots of activities. And work stinks most of the time, but keeps me busy too.
FWIW, early action I took @ BOL:
NDSU / YSU Under 54 (3.5u)
NMSU -2 (3u)
YSU +25.5 (2u)
Wofford / Mercer Under 55 (1u) & Under 56 (0.5u) -- (1.5u overall)
Fade away, boys!!
BA, stay warm big guy!

I'm on New Mexico State. Just think there is a talent difference with an FBS team vs. a team that has only played one FCS game. First road game after a gut wrenching loss. Also a Texas team and that State is dealing with plenty of headaches right now.
Also looking at Northwestern State vs Lamar. Lamar has 51 freshmen. Lots of inexperience for a first game.

New Mercer offense Wing T vertical pass sounds like a nightmare to install.. HC former OC a Furman in '17 got it to explode there after a few games with a higher caliber roster .. Cronic brought in all his former OC's from Lenoir late jan announcement so i assume they've not had much time there... you see their Co-OC/OL coach experience before is with all the hard core option teams Army/GSo/Citidel ... doesnt seem like this highly coordinated O will be a quick download ... Wofford replacing all everything QB and top RB from hard core rush heavy team, 2 off ret starters to 8 on a pretty good defense ...
Unsure about Mercer D but feels like wofford gunna have to score a serious bulk of the points like 42 or so and then maybe total can get to 56 if Merc stumbles into a few scores but idk feels like alot of baggage could weigh both these offenses down a bit...

SDST was banged up, but are healthy this year. New QB tho. I took South Dak. St. -2 for a smell amount. I live in Iowa and can't remember UNI ever having football.

So... given that the step from D2 to FCS is (about) the same as FCS to FBS... How is Tarleton BETTER than NMSU right now? This line has to be at least 5/6.
Tough to tell who the Aggies have lost... Do know they have Michigan transfer O'Maury Samuels at RB.... and about 40 transfers.. Website says 8/9 starters back but no way that's true ha. P5 guys DB Cook... UCF WR Robertson... GA WR Moran have left... as has DT Lopez ( Zona)
Played a juiced P for 0.75 unit......

Looks like that game is in EP... Saw at least 2 'reliable' sources say back to NMSU. Confusion was that Aggies could practice there / but not play oddly enough... I reckon.
Not much difference really, only 40 miles away or so. So line says these 2 are about the same..

just a heads up from the article.. agree should be NM - a few pts but cant even find most of the 247 rated guys on the roster ... combine w nobreal ret pro and these quotes ... idk.. Tar or nothing for me..
"I think we have 25 guys who've actually played in a game for us," Martin said. "We've added two recruiting classes since our last season and we have so many new guys in the program. These spring games are mostly going to be about evaluation and getting ready for the 2021 (fall) season. They can really be valuable for us."
NMSU will be exceptionally young on defense and has a number of new players at its skill positions. Some, who are mid-year transfers, cannot play in the spring games according to NCAA rules. "Some of those guys are starters, so we won't really have our best team on the field," Martin said, "but it'll give us a chance to see a lot of young guys."
New Mexico's COVID restrictions also played a role. The Aggies only recently were allowed to begin full-team workouts in Las Cruces, but athletic competitions within the state remain prohibited.
"We actually want to lose this game pretty big" Doug said. ......lol jk....

Just messing wit ya man.. All guesswork right now....
Adding the greatness of the Mercer Bears +14'... 1/2 unit or so
That O installed spring of 2020 (gotcha back ha).... CRONIC hired 12/10/19
Looking at the teams that played in the fall esp. Mercer almost beat Jax St right off the bat (3 TOs or woulda) - beat up at Army, but D didn't get smashed at all really... Then lost to ACC on 10/31. TOs were huge. They are Really young ( 12 true Fr in 2 deep / + 5 rFr).
They did add RB Clark from App St after fall and QB Payton from CC (not on depth chart). Ol st from VT and WR from Georgia as well.
The Terriers last game was 11/30/19! They lose everybody on O except for RB and WR. They fudge a bit on website, only 5.5 or so return on D.... Lose 6/11 tacklers. Under maybe even better, as posted earlier... Will do 1H under probably too.....

Youngstown St - getting too many at home vs UNI.. If they get hammered especially at NDSU.
* Sagarin says 9' or so.... Looking at series history / home team wins. Last time UNI won away was 2010 by 4 and 2008 by 1.
Penguins are starting over (new HC and ONLY 25 players back) < from game notes hard to believe tho. Not sure how many fans - Ice Castle holds 20K +... Bad spot for UNI - off tough / physical loss... now on tough road trip.
> Check status of WR Weston and #2.
McNeese at home vs Inc Word ( Sagarin 9)
* Off huge road W then bye... IW prepared for SH - then canceled... IW QB left late December too.
MVSU!!!! Know you boys can't wait to fade Deion haha
