Well now Mr. Freak , where are you now. Coach Meyer , did show a little class at the end but you could tell he was really pissed in victory, because he wanted to run it up but could not against that defense.

Keep your head up freak. I was like you and alot of others on here that thought the Gators would take a big shit on the Vols. Something was fishy about this game from the beginning, and everyone that watched it knows what I am talking about. What happened to Floridas offense, and it had nothing to do with the Vol defense. How many plays were called that looked like they wanted to score? How many times did Tebow throw downfield? I am interested to see what everyone else thinks.

didnt bet on the game and watched for the most part all of it... i personally think ur an upset better who lost. i by no means think there was any fishy about this game. im not trying to start a fight or anything but i have been in your position before.

No, not at all. I just know thay Meyer's playcalling was uncharacteristic and extrememly conservative. Tebow had 115 yards passing with a 6 yard per reception average. Where was the downfield passes, when it was obvious to everyone except you that Tennessee sold out to stop the run. It never looked like he opened up the playbook today.

We've all been hearing about this game for months. I wouldn't think anyone would/should be swayed by Jimmys "Free Game". I'm sure he feels like shit and lost $$$.  He doesn't owe you or me anything. He took a strong stand on a play and he was wrong. Been there, done that. Let it go.

You are clearly missing the point... this ass hole went way out of his way and called this his LOCK OF THE YEAR!  When you do that you're only setting yourself up for disaster.

Not only that, I tried to warn him and he wrote some page long bash aimed at me for disagreeing with him.

He is not only a tool but a BROKE ASS TOOL!

First of all, congrats to all Tennessee backers.  All the credit needs to go to Tennesse and their entire coaching staff.  Although the outcome was never in doubt, they did a great job of not letting the game get out hand.
 
As far as Tennessee's offense versus Florida's defense is concerned, this is pretty much what I expected.  Florida's defense was dominant.  Moreover, Crompton is as bad as advertised.
 
The surprise was Florida's offense versus Tennessee's defense.  Tennessee did 3 things very effectively.  First, they really didn't allow any big plays.  That forced Florida to sustain long drives.  Florida was very close several times, but they just weren't able to break through!!!
 
Second, they almost completely shut down Florida's passing game (Tebow was 14 of 19 for only 114 yards).  But on about 5 or 6 other occasions, Tebow tucked the ball after not being able to find a receiver.
 
And third, they were very stout in the red zone (they forced 3 red-zone FGs), and when you're laying better than 4 TDs, obviously you need TDs not FGs.
 
Despite a very good effort by Tennessee's defense, I remained very confident of the cover until Tebow coughed up the ball around the Tennessee 5-yard line with 12 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter.  At that point of the game, Florida was starting to dominate the game, and was ripping off about 10 yards a run.
 
The problem was that instead of just punching the ball in for the score (thus making it a 1-score game for the cover), they were bending over backwards to try to keep Tebow's TD pass streak alive.  That proved to be the cover killer.  Had the Gators just punched it in for a TD right there, I'm confident they would have covered the game.  That was obviously the turning point.  It gave Tennessee momentum they would not have otherwise had.
 
In closing I would like to add that I was very, very confident in this game, otherwise I would not have created the post.  This is a game I've been sitting on since January.
 
The basis of my confidence was that I didn't think Tennessee was capable of scoring more than 7 points in the game, and because I thought their inability to move the ball on Florida's defense would lead to amply scoring opportunities for Florida's offense.  Becasue of that, I felt confident that Florida would break the 40-point mark, and get the cover.  I also knew that Meyer would pull out all the stops to get the cover if the opportunity presented itself.
 
The bottom line is that anytime you're laying 29 points in a game, a lot of things have to go your way, and not enough things went Florida's way today, and the credit for that goes to the Tennessee defense and their coaching staff.
 
The upside here is that I think Tennessee may be a bit over valued in the weeks to come.  It'll be something to keep an eye on for sure.  I'll definitely be very interested in the line when they visit Bryant Denny Stadium, because Bama WILL do to Tennessee what Florida couldn't.  I can almost guarantee you I'll back Bama in that game!!!

Yeah, if you post picks, it's not a matter of if, it's just a matter of when.  That's just the nature of the beast.  I've been posting picks here for 7 years, and I've certainly had worse weeks.

After having one of my best year's ever last year, I was very optomistic about this year.  Early in the season is typically where I shine.  That has NOT been the case so far this year.  I remain, however, very optimistic about the remainder of the season!!!

I hope you fared better than I did today PWs!!!

Actually, posts like this is what makes such forums fun.  The kind of raw emotion, unvarnished hatred and vitriol, is what you'll never see on some manufactured Hollywood or tv drama.

And the OP, I will say, took the turd-tossing abuse with good grace, never getting angry in reponse.

I will advice, Jimmy, that in th future you refrain from calling any single game The Game of the Year. Ain't no such animal, and you sound like a caricature of a slimy tout (or, was that your intent?)

There ain't no GAme of the Month either. Or of the week.  Maybe, just maybe, a game of the day.

But no sports bet is really worth 4, 5, 6 times, or more, the capital you'd put on an "ordinary" play. But I have a feeling you know that.

And that your hyperbolic screaming was to get a rise out of others here, and in that you suceeded.  And some of them clearly bet heavy coin on your primal scream.

Hey Jimmy...............shrug it off man. I took a huge hit, I'm not gun-shy in the least. I would take that bet again given another chance. Tebow holds on to that ball and I believe the outcome would have been different.

The Gators didn't go downfield for three reasons:

1) the Tampa 2 that Monte runs takes those away and you are forced to move methodically down the field

2) The Gator offensive line hot manhandled at times by the UT line and Tebow had no time

3) Deonte Thompson did not play, and he is the downfield guy. 

There were some plays downfield, but Tebow checked down as to not force it. 

Had Tebow not fumbled on the 4 yard line the Gators would have covered.  They would have been up 30-6 and the Vols would have had to let Crompton throw and that would have ended badly.
