I've been gambling 30 years I've lost more money than I lost over that time. The only thing positive about getting older is we get wiser,,,,(most people ). I've learned a lot from making gambling mistakes over the years. The only way to be successful gambler is to "pick your spots". You have to learn to buy low,, and sell high,, And the only way to do this is to really follow the sport like its a job!! By low= jumping on a team in beginning of season that you know the public or "Vegas" has not caught onto yet ,, But once that team is recognized its time to jump off! ( by then the value is gone because now everyone is jumping on the band wagon). When people are jumping on the wagon,, it's time to jump off!!! That team becomes a stock that you buy and it doesn't move,, stays stagnant. !! Now let's take a team like Baylor ,, Public perception is that Baylor is a powerhouse! Look at the big lines that have been put out from Vegas , public perception is Baylor is the Baylor of yesterday. But a seasoned gambler would jump all over the points in the beginning of the season !! (This is selling high). I think we get the picture, And when Vegas makes all the adjustments and gets the line where it's supposed to be ,, now we are throwing darts!! Flip a coin! I come to covers to get insight of a few guys,,, guys like , WAHOOS, SCALABRINE, OLDWISEONE , and liked when BOOM _BOOM posted,, There's a few more guys that I know I'm forgetting. But if you follow these guys,, They are successful over the long run!! Good luck!!

Sports betting is actually better but because 98% of the sports bettors are degenerate or compulsive gamblers, sports betting is viewed negatively. If you stick to strict discipline and money management where you never bet more than 3% of the bankroll, sports betting is pretty much same as stock market but with much better edge. The government also labels sports betting as negative or bad because its very hard to control and collect tax. This article https://www.bettingresource.com/sports-betting-vs-stock-market-trading.html compares in depth stockmarket vs sports betting.

You obviously haven't used a very good financial advisor if you're comparing sports gambling to the stock market. No comparison between the two whatsoever.
