I live in Atlanta and I can tell you that Georgia and Mark Richt are in big trouble . They are simply outmanned and outcoached in this S. Carolina game, I honestly do not see anyway Georgia will win or even cover this game.
Besides home field what edge does Georgia have in this game ?

Thanks to this I am unloading on Georgia.

Well, they held Doug Marting to 43 yards on 18 carries. Not too bad.

I live in Columbia and follow this this team very closely. South Carolina's defence does poorly against spread offenses with high powered passing attacks such as East Carolina. Last year the South Carolia defence was crushed by Auburn and Arkansas, but they play good against prostyle/smashmouth/playaction type teams. Stopping the run is South Carolina's strength. Going against an air raid offense is their weakness. I know it sounds strange, but Georgia's offence will be less effective than East Carolina's was because of their scheme. The East Carolina offence gets rid of the ball very quickly (only 13 sacks allowed last year) which negated a very good South Carolina pass rush. They also exposed the weakness of the defence which is the secondary against the pass. Keep in mind that South Carolina only had 5 players in the secondary that could play against ECU because of injuries and suspensions and that is against a team that throws the ball 75% of the time. People in Columbia expected ECU to put up a lot of points.

In my week 1 post (3-1), I noted that Georgia could be looking ahead to this weeks South Carolina game. It seems that South Carolina was also looking ahead. The difference is that the Ole Ball Coach, set his team right at half time.

South Carolina plays a base 4-2-5 type base defence with a "spur" player that is a hybrid LB/safty. DeVonte Holloman plays this position. Holloman started at safty last year and moved to the spur position in the off season. Holloman was suspended for the first game agaisnt ECU because of a DUI. Holloman is perfect for this position because of his size and speed. He is about 6'2" 230. His backup at the spur spot stepped up into the starting line up and had 16 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and a defensive touchdown. Allen is expected split time with Holloman against Georgia and Holloman will also see time at LB in dime packages against Georgia. Holloman may possibly be moved back to safty to get him and Allen on the field at the same time, but Holloman is still practicing at spur for now.
Cornerback Victor Hampton is suspended for the first 3 games and will not play agaisnt UGA. This is not a huge loss. Hampton is good enough to get playing time, but he is not one of the top corners on the team.
Akeem Auguste is a senior cornerback who missed the first game because of an ankle injury. Auguste did not practice yesterday and was expected to pratice today (9/6). Auguste said that he expects to be able to play 15-20 plays against Georgia. Auguste playes a larger role in the defence than Hampton. Auguste is the second or third best corner on the team after Gilmore. Gilmore and C.C. Whitlock will be the starters at corner this week and Auguste should be able to play in nickle and dime situations.
Freshman corner Marty Mattox sat out the first game for acadimic reasons but will be able to play this week. Mattox is from Athens, GA and he is expected to get onto the field against UGA.
Depth in the secondary will not be a problem against UGA.

I expect USC to play a ball controll/field position tpye offense and lattimore will run the ball 30+ times. I expect lattimore to be successful running. I do not think UGA will be able to run against USC and will be forced to pass. I expect USC to win and to cover.
