Random thought on Hawaii. Opened 4.5 RSW. Consensus now is 4.0 and under -115 at Circa. Kinda surprised because the schedule is manageable.
also Hawaii opened pick em vs Vandy and now they are +7. The Market is bearish on Hawaii. Plan accordingly.

Yeah def a team folks honed in on last year as having real program problems w the coaches and players xferring out left and right .. I was looking to go under right away if they put em at 5.5 W's but never saw it ... I think they got 2 wins, Duqenese and at least for now @NMSU both feel pretty winnable .. The Home schedule does set up to give them a shot .. Nevada and Wyoming likely have a few problems this year .. UNLV, Vandy should be improved but that doesn't mean much till we see them .. Utah State could definitely have a bad game on the road .. besides NMSU the road schedule looks incredibly difficult ..
Def not taking their RSW over lol but I think if we see these guys get blown to smithereeens early on by Vandy, WKY, and obvi will on trip to Michigan then they won't recapture much of their power rating by beating NMSU or the FCS team before their bye week .. we might find some value on the Bows after the bye if they can start playing like a team because their power rating will be deeeeeeep in the toilet by then ...... should be decently big home dogs vs some of the worst MW teams and then just humongous road dogs vs the better MW teams .. pre-ssn / early ssn though yeah lol they are definitely not the place im putting my money ..

Slam Vandy......Hawaii has 53 new players...New coaching staff.....New offensive system...Lost their top 5 best players - all to the transfer portal...
Like always...Hawaii will put up a fight fro probably the 1st half but should be a easy 3 TD win for Vandy and the SEC talent should wear Hawaii down..

I might have to hold my nose at the ticket window, but Im really thinking about laying 7 points with Vanderbilt.. in football... before it goes up.

Watch it - this game is Vandy's bowl game / reward / vacation. Hawaii is a total unknown - they might lose by 30, or win SU. Keeping in mind if played LY - Hawaii would have been favored by 8-10 points. So given that Vandy might be 2-3 points better - how much worse is UH? 13-14 pts?

Its not about talent...its about familiarity...I expect Hawaii to make a lot of mistakes...not because they do not have talent..but they have not played together especially the skill position players. Whoever the QB is for Hawaii will have little experience...New OC and New DC....DC was the safeties coach last year with Todd Graham..got promoted to DC...But it is his 1st time calling plays in a D1 game...Just a bad spot overall with all the new players and very inexperienced coaching staff for Hawaii..Hawaii always plays tough on the islands and will be jacked up but..that will only last for 1 quarter or 1st half...

We know Timmy Chang can run an offense but as has been stated we dont know if he has the hosses, on the other hand we are talking about Vanderbilt here. I'd have to take 7 or more.

@Biscuiteater1
Timmy was the TE’s coach for Nevada last season.. really was not qualified to get the HC job but due to him being a local star player that stayed home to play for Hawaii he got the job from his alma mater as Todd Graham was a bad fit culture wise and Hawaii wanted a coach that knows Hawaii. He has never called plays at the D1 level. i think over time he will be a good Head coach but he will take his lumps.

Side note; Hawaii Rainbows do not have Aloha Stadium to play in, rather home games will be played at their practice facility (Ching Athletic Complex) that holds only 9000 fans.
Getting there a week early is great for Vandy along as they don't go full tourist. Am sure they have plans to see the sites.

If you're looking at how Vandy finished the season - lost but played hard, and covered 5/6 - you might conclude it simply carries over here. One season is not necessarily a continuation of the last ..... recall this team got smashed by East Tenn St at home - and got outgained by 100 yds by UCONN, also at home - lucky to even win by 2.
So they started from a very dark and scary place. They bring literally zero pressure on D. I would be surprised if they lost - but definitely wouldn't put them in a ML parlay. Nothing wrong with a smaller bet on Vandy (<6), as all signs point to Hawaii being really bad early - but I wouldn't get too excited..

Agreed.
Agreed.
@davemsh
Yes sir….this Hawaii team is a complete abortion right now. That can not be understated. With Vandy getting in 6 days before kickoff(as someone else mentioned) that should mitigate the jet lag, travel problem for the most part. Vandy is a good play

This is hilarious. We are looking at out first covers bloodbath in week 0. “New roster, 53 transfers, they stand no chance!”…. hmmm we all know how this usually plays out lol. Good luck to all

I almost never take out of conference teams that travel to Hawaii. You just don't know the mindset of the Vandy kids - are they going there to win, or are they going there for a vacation? Will they be focused on football or on the beach and chicks and luaus? Is their player leadership strong enough to keep them focused? Yeah, Hawaii is going to be a mess. But Vandy isn't going to look that great in their first game of the season, facing off against a real defense. Maybe they find a way to cover 7 and maybe they don't. I just don't see any value here at all.

I was thinking the same thing .....
SIMPLE ANSWERS, TO COMPLEX ISSUES ha.....is what people want
>> and when they find it - everybody piles on - and we all sleep better at night..... UNTIL, wait for it 'everybody' was wrong! - "how TF could this happen!? - we got robbed!"

One thing I haven't seen addressed in this thread is the boast by the Vandy coach about a month ago that Vandy would soon be the top program in all of CF. Of course this is ludicrous and was laughed off by everyone accordingly. But I do think it goes to the mentality he's trying to establish in the program. It makes me think Vandy is going there to take care of business - and stomp on a Hawaii program basically in disarray. Of course they may not have the talent and/or coaching to do it or even win - but I think that coach is all business and you're going to get Vandy's best shot.
