Hawaii v Vanderbilt

I don't think these players Hawaii is losing went to the NFL, Kids coming and going on bad teams at this level isn't always a negative thing even if the whole teams replaced. Why not just watch all the teams at least for the 1st week and bet nothing that's the smart thing to do.

There's 130 Division 1 college football teams lot of games and chances to make money in the season , do you really have to bet Vandy@Hawaii in August ?

I still haven't made up my mind on this game and probably won't until later this week.. but if I was on a side I will be on Vanderbilt 

Might wait to bet this game live in case it starts slow and have some really good opportunities 

If anyone recalls just how terrible New Mexico State was to begin last season…. Hawaii is in even greater disarray and will be worse.

I think you raise some valid points (to no bet this game). The fact it hasn't moved past 7 and Pinnacle going down to 6 I believe is pretty telling.  I bet conservatively - my standard 1 unit betting amount is .66% of my bankroll. My max wager is 5u (play of year types).  Usually betting 1u or 2u per game out of 150u bankroll.  FYI I have 1u on Vandy.  Standard play - no more.  Reasons - the well documented disarray the Hawaii program is in, Aloha stadium being demolished (i.e. no HF crowd advantage anyway), Vandy being an SEC team (what would Vandy do in the MWC vs. SEC?), Vandy's 2nd year coach boasting about 2 months ago that Vandy would be the top program in the nation soon (ridiculous but tells me he's got a lot of confidence in his group and obviously to move toward that goal they can't lose to Hawaii) and fact Chang has no business being a HC anywhere - only Hawaii would have made him a HC and I think they did it for PR because they know the disaster that's coming this year.  All that being said, it's Vandy laying 6.5.  So hence the 1u bet and no more.

The reason why this can't be a load up situation - is because of 2 things.

  >> you don't know if Vandy will be in vacation mode or not, and you know NOTHING about Hawaii.

Plus this (road favorite) is an extremely unusual role for Vandy - maybe they don't know 'how to win' these games? Hawaii is likely bad - maybe not, they haven't played ffs.

If $100 is your standard bet - maybe make it $150, $200 max. No way you do a 4-5 % of your BR type thing with this much uncertainty.

FWIW Circa now has Vandy -8.5.  Lot of line movement today.  

Vegas rarely puts out a # that is way out of whack but it does happen and if Vandy covers this is one of those times.Unless i'm mistaken this opened @ 1 and shot 6-7 in no time flat. I'm gonna pass, GLuck with it fella's.

also Western Kentucky in Week 1 has moved from -11 to -14 today.  Hawaii fade money hitting hard today.

I can't fathom how anyone would want to make a large bank play on Vanderbilt laying points in football.. This is as much as I can like a spot for Vanderbilt and even then im pondering whether im gonna play it anyway. 

Reasons I’m taking Vandy:

1. Second year coach (confident for now) vs. first year coach

2. Sec team and southern boys vs. a conglomerate of garbage

3. Only 2 more possible wins on Vandy schedule so if they aren’t ready now might as well make your money back against them rest of year

4. Flew into Hawaii for a full week, they will be ready to rock and roll and vacation time will be over 

5. Grabbed at -6 and -6.5….just think Vandy can get out of there with a TD win…After it moved to 7 and past it would be smaller bet for me as I never like when lines move through multiple key numbers

 Well, it did not take long for this year's pissing contests to begin on Covers with the usual back and forth.

I really don't understand why anyone would bet a single cent on Vandy vs Hawaii and it has nothing to do with picking the ultimate winner/cover.

This game just looks to me to be a high variance game with a lot of back and forth scoring due to poor defenses.  The higher the variance, the more difficult to handicap the games or at least that has been my experience.

Much better games on the board for Saturday so why not just flush this turd game down the john where it belongs

I've said this many times...U do not have 53 new players and expect to have success right away..Vandy has a returning QB which is huge...Hawaii will either start Shaeger who was meh/bad in his only 2 starts last season and or 2 transfers...who barley played at Pitt and Wazzu...All 3 Qb's are learning a brand new system.... RnS or Spread is all timing and Hawaii's skill position players -WR's have almost no experience... A lot of new players - Lack of Depth...I have seen the depth chart for Hawaii and there are 9 walk on's in the 2 deep....FYI I am from Hawaii...I know Hawaii.....There "Braddahood" mentality is all rah rah..until the game is played.. I think Chang will eventually be a decent coach but ...His coaching staff is so raw and inexperienced... I hope Hawaii proves me wrong..but Vandy should cover this game.  

Hawaii will be jacked up and pumped to start the game..but Vandy will pull away.... Also this is not your normal Hawaii team..Offense will not be explosive like what most fans who do not follow Hawaii think of Hawaii when they were under the June Jones/Rolovich era of the run and shoot/Pistol...The offense was not good under Todd Graham last season as that was even with a veteran QB in Cordero..

 Looks like sanity has returned to the betting markets as money appears to be coming in on Vandy with the line going up to -8 at the square books.

Still, Pinnacle has the line posted at Vandy -7.5 and not Vandy -8.  Once again, is Pinnacle signaling what all those sharp bettors at Pinnacle are betting?

Well, no one really knows but playing this game with Pinnacle is a job best left for about 1 hour before game time.  

My plans for this game is to hold my fire until about 5 minutes before kick off.  Check the Pinnacle price on the game vs the overall betting market.  IF Pinnacle is offering one team at a more favorable price than the overall market, then fade that team.  Vandy or Hawaii.  Fade the one that Pinnacle is enticing you to bet.  This tactic is called the Pinnacle Lean.  Search on Google to read more about it.

 I say this every single time - for the last 10 years,- anytime I see guys starting silly blowout - other team has no shot! - talk..That's not how it's done. 

Beauty of it? - don't like it, simply ignore it. It should only bother recreational chumps anyway.

Vandy will feature in a parlay for me assuming action does not take it too high

I trust the fact that ESPN sometimes can put together analytics which tell me that they have less than a third of the team returning, one of the lowest ratings for offense and defense

I like Vandy's grit that I have seen when they played non power 5 teams and I like the fact they have some talent in some positions. Time will tell if Hawaii does, but not the first game! Then again, everyone was high on Scott Frost turning around Nebraska, loaded with talent last year, Martinez senior year yadda yadda and they lost to a weak team to start the year 

Would Vandy represent a good teaser play with others? for sure also

Would the over here represent a good spot also as a teaser? for sure if you think Hawaii will move the ball uptempo

 It is generally conceded that Pinnacle is sharpest because they do not ban players, they move lines on action, they don't copy lines from other books, and they have huge limits.

 I actually see it on by board as one of top 3-4 games to bet this upcoming weekend…I know enough about both teams to feel I have enough advantage to take Vandy…no game this weekend is worth a high unit bet though but I feel comfortable with my pic and I will love another day regardless. But I would be interested into here what games you liked more and the reasoning behind it. All info is welcomed info to me.

If you researched what precisely is going on with the Hawaii program right now, perhaps you would feel differently. This isn’t about Vanderbilt ….it’s about a complete disarray of the hawaii program.  A division two school could beat this Hawaii team right now. I guarantee it.  If there is one thing I understand, I understand the game of football because I’ve lived it and played it for a long time.  Seems you mostly understand line movement and betting trends.
