In this game i'll assume the first thing that'll stand out to most of you is Hawaii and their very impressive air attack. I can't deny or dispute that the rainbow warriors can and probably will put up plenty of passing yards tonight. QB Bryant Moniz is playing the best football of his career. He's completing nearly 65% of his passes and has an incredible 15 TD's to go with only 1 INT. No way around it Moniz is legit. What worries me here about Hawaii however is how one dimensional their offense is. Averaging only 87 yards per game on the ground ranks Hawaii among the worst in the nation in that stat.
Last season when these two teams met Hawaii trounced the Spartans 41-7 as Moniz piled up a career high 560 yards through the air. Tonight at home on national TV you can bet SJSU will do everything they can to redeem themselves and buckle down against the pass happy Warriors. Long story short, if SJSU can tighten up against the pass and force Hawaii to run it a bit, the Warriors could be in trouble.
On the other side of the ball SJSU sports a much more well rounded offensive attack. QB Matt Faulker has had a solid yet un-spectacular season. He completes 62% of his passes and averages over 220 yards per game. Not great, but certainly enough of a threat that they aren't one dimensional. The bread and butter of this team is RB Brandon Rutley who will return from injury this week and look to lead this Spartans offense. Rutley has averaged 5.5 yards per carry and slightly over 100 yards per game this season. If he is on his game tonight it'll go a long ways towards an SJSU cover and possibly an outright win.
Pick: There's things here I like about both squads, but at the end of the day just a little more pointing in SJSU's favor. Home game on national TV, revenge game, more balanced offense, star player (Rutley) returning from injury to lift the team. All good enough for me. SJSU +5.5

I really like Hawaii -6 here. Especially with SJSU best player and starting RB Brandon Rutley questionable with a bad ankle. Even if he does play he won't be as effective as usall. Coming up 14 days rest and only a 3.5 hour flight Hawaii is the play here.

Horrible game but we need our degenerate action. No way Im laying points on the road with the Rainbows. That UNLV game was enough for me. Maybe a money line bet on SJSU is in order even though I think they are terrible.

I respect your play but I have a couple questions? How well did San Jose St play when they had Rutley in the beginning of the year? Not to stellar... Do you really think that Moniz would lose in a shot out to Faulkner if it came down to it??? Prob not.... A team can be well balanced when the game is close but what happens when they are down 21 (Im not saying this will happen just saying that it could be a possibility) they have to pass the ball and this qb aint good enough to do that
