Sparty is the 3rd best team in the Big 10. Washington is the 7th best team in the Pac 12. Which conference is better? Sparty is getting points. Someone wash my brain on this one because it’s too easy. Michigan State obliterated Akron last week, but of course, Akron should be called ASSkron because they are straight ass. However, Sparty also made mincemeat out of Western Michigan with a 35-13 victory while running the ball for 6.2 yards per pop. This is an indication that they will be able to take control of a game, even on the road. Sparty is a physical team that will look to establish the run throughout the game. Both of their backs are hard runners who like contact. The Huskies were guilty of some “Oil of Olay” missed tackles against Kent. Remember in the Pac 12 they play patty cake football. Wisconsin transfer Jalen Berger has stepped in for Kenneth Walker. They have 4 returning starters on the O-Line from last year’s terrific 11-2 team that beat both Michigan and Penn State. QB Payton Thorne is averaging 8.6 yards per attempt. MSU’s receivers have a size advantage over Washington’s outside corners, although it is unclear if Jayden Reed will play after some ASSclown from ASSkron pushed him into a bench on the sideline (he suffered a cut on his back). Their offense is very balanced. They also return 9 starters on defense from last year’s team. They lead the nation in sacks with 12. That’s what we know about Sparty.
And what of Washington? Based on 2022 we know nothing about the dawgs. Nothing. They sleepwalked to a 45-20 win over Kent but their defense was less than spectacular. Last week they spanked Portland State. Big Whoop. We learned nothing. So what do we know? We do know that 2 of their best players, RB Richard Newton and OL Jaxson Kirkland will play but both are hobbled. This doesn’t bode well for pass protection for Penix, who always tries to do too much by extending plays in an undisciplined fashion. Can you say INTERCEPTION? On defense, Washington returns only three defensive starters from last year.
Michigan State is 4-0 ATS in its last 4 games and Washington is 0-4 ATS in its last 4 matchups against a team from the Big Ten. In their last 10 games, Michigan State have covered the spread at a rate of 80.0%. Sparty is averaging more yards and points per play, better redzone D and rushing D. This is going to be a fun game to watch, and that’s why I bet it. At the end of the day, it’s probably a toss up, so I’m happy to be grabbing the points with this road dog.

Air Force not only does not cover but loses outright to Wyoming. The Cowboys played excellent defense and made the plays on offense when they needed to. Air Force had 5 offensive starters out and 47 kids sick with a virus this week. So much for early betting! Not a good road trip for the Falcons. 0-1 for the week.

Indiana wins but does not cover. Both defenses were not very good and Indiana was terrible in the red zone. I’m not sure if the better team won the game. 0-2 on the week so far.

Rutgers needs a quarterback. Their offense was terrible. No way they score on Iowa next week. Very bad pick. 0-3 on the week. Going down in flames. Guaranteed loser week.

Sparty decides that they don’t have to defend the pass and ran around like chickens with no heads chasing receivers. perfect 0-5 on the week. 10-7 YTD 59%.
You win and you learn. Going to AC next week and will double up on my picks and take in a lot of football on Saturday. Best of luck to all.
