Stanford -11 VANDERBILT
Stanford lost to KSU in week 1 because they started the wrong quarterback. They made a change and bingo! The Stanford Quarterback, Tanner McKee aka “Big Love” will have multiple Vanda women at his feet if he plays well. The Stanford quarterback is a Mormon back from a mission. So if Stanford ever beats Texas, AAAAH, he won’t drink. But those lofty aspirations are not required this week. Stanford will be traveling to Nashville and Vandy will be candy…from babies. Think of it this way, is there anyone on the planet who thinks Vanderbilt can go to USC and beat them by two touchdowns, a week after USC beat San Jose State by the score of 30-7? File note: San Jose State is ranked #74, Vandy is ranked #114 and USC is ranked #31. Well, Stanford did it last week and, as a matter of fact, was up by 4 touchdowns in the 4 quarter. USC had some window dressing at the end, but they really go clobbered by Tree.
The Commodores actually won last week. I watched every minute of that game and Colorado State did everything that they could to (successfully) blow it. The Rams had a million penalties and kept missing field goals. Despite putting up 445 yards of offense and 207 yards on the ground at 6.3 yards per carry, CSU still lost. But whenever a team gets 6.3 yards per carry against you, it’s a sign that your defense sucks. USC’s defense is good, and Stanford scored 42 points on them. Stanford beat them so bad that USC fired their coach. This is baaaaaad news for Vandy. In Vanderbilt’s first game, they scored 3 points against FCS non-powerhouse ETSU. Now don’t get me wrong, we don’t know for sure if Stanford is any good, but it is sure as sunset that Vandy is flat out ass. The Pigskin Index, the #1 rated computer system with 58% this year ATS, has Stanford as being 17 points better than Vandy.
Vandy’s quarterback can’t throw a deep ball, period. That means Stanford’s defense can play up near the line of scrimmage. Vandy has averaged less than 3 yards per carry against very bad defenses. It is going to be 3 and out city when the Commodes have the ball. To make things worse, Vandy’s starting tight end, will be out for this game thus negatively impacting their ability to convert third downs and also creating further deficiency in their run blocking. Stanford, on the other hand, will be able to run the ball as much as they please, as they are averaging 5.5 yards per carry against MUCH better defenses than Vandy has. You know what happens when you can run the ball for over 5 yards per carry on the road? You win…that’s what happens. Vanderbilt lost two defensive players from their 2020 winless team to the NFL. That’s a big downgrade from a bad defense. Vandy has a 13-game losing streak against Power Five opponents. Make that 14 on Saturday. This is my best bet of the week. AAAAAAH! Shake the TREE and lay the 11 points as the Cardinal go ho ho ho ho ho a la Tom Robinson.

Lesson never learned...don't lay points against the home teams on these night games....! Maryland about to put the game away but fumbles...twice. Illinois fumbles but it goes to his teammate and he runs it in 30 yards for the score....Maryland wins but doesn't cover...0-1 on the week
