For Pac-12 CG history, the final score has only eclipsed 60 3x, the last being 2015 (Stanford 41-22 over USC), & only went over 67 once (2011....Oregon 49-31 over UCLA). Most games end up in the low 50's (low was Washington 10-3 vs. Utah in 2018). Both of the highest scoring games involved the Oregon Ducks during the Chip Kelly/early Helfrich era.....
@TRAIN69
Shady ref'ing in Pac-12 game? Nah....SOP.

....one caveat I see......looking back over the last few years, Utah/USC games have a history of being one of the highest scoring games in a Utah season...... 85 this season, 68 LY, 69 in 2019 .......It was only 50 in 2020 but that was covid season.

The administrative state of the conference would get a pay-day, contingent upon if USC wins. They’re using their OWN conference officials to call the game. It’s the most high profile brand in the conference. Just saying…
Play the game. Don’t let the game play you.

Always makes you wonder some - situations like that - certainly would be more concerned with your angles than the Pac 12 possibly saying 'screw you SC' because of their leaving for the Big 10 - BUT, money usually talks.
Always great stuff Train

I’m a fan of your knowledge. I hope you’re dead wrong about officiating being a factor in probably what will be the best game of the weekend.
USC team total of 34.5 is LOW! I see this game being a close Utah win or a USC rout. Utah is down a few defensive players and USC will be moved on in between the 20s. The question for me is “Which Cam Rising shows up?”. If it’s the bum who lost at Oregon, they have no chance. If it’s the 2022 Rose Bowl Rising, then watch out Trojans.
I am on USC team total over, UTAH team total over.
Other games I like: Tulane -3, K State/TCU OVER, Clemson TT OVER, Fresno State +3.5…UNC can’t stop anyone and Haener gets a crack at Boise after he didn’t in the first matchup.
Let me know what you think. Good luck this weekend and look forward to your Bowl Thread!

Also to be noted usc gave the game to them in utah .. rematch game and utah is the dredges on the road .. don’t think refs giving them calls will even matter .. utah away from SLC. With there star running back opting out for draft .. rising being a liability in the medium to deep passing game .. and kuithe there best receiving threat out.. usc should win and cover regardless

"phantom holds". How come whenever a referee calls a player for holding, on the replay, the player is "actually" holding. The referee knows TV will replay the holding call. So I'm not sure what "phantom holds" even means?

"Selective holding calls" is probably a better description.....

I concur. Holding occurs on almost every play.....when it is enforced is selective....

If USC needs a little nudge to remain in contention for playoff birth, I hope the referees oblige. SEC referees have been helping Bama or LSU maintain lofty rankings so many times.

the SEC officials strangely have now transitioned into helping Georgia instead of bama now, that's how you know the torch has finally been passed..

FWIW Refs were super involved in the 1 pt loss by USC in the last meeting. Refs gave 2 blatant PI calls on Utah's final drive. Started from their own 15 and were assisted with 45yds in penalties in just 2 plays! Next thing you know, Utah is on the Trojan 20yd line without even executing their offense.

I badly want to bet the Utah ML...but the flags have me concerned. It will likely come down to mid/late 4th qtr. All it takes is one bogus pass interference call (for ex.) and USC gets a chip shot FG to win and possibly cover. Not saying it will happen that way, but it's not like we haven't seen this before.
