or will they finally admit that LSU is the superior team this year. i'm just sayin...
there's been some pretty cocky talk coming from tide fans on these boards for a team that lost at home.
That said, I think LSU should have a tremendous amount of pride about what they've accomplished this year. I should know, my first cousin twice removed, Ruffin G. Pleasant, was the first captain of the first LSU football team in 1893. He actually helped pick the school colors of purple and gold. here's a cool article about the guy who was also governor of Louisiana from 1916-1920. https://www.myneworleans.com/Louisiana-Life/November-December-2011/Rah-Rah-Ruffin/ anyway, since his first game against Tulane (they lost 34-0) until now, this is the first season the fighting tigers have gone undefeated. they've played like champions all year. No reason to think they won't on January 9th. Good luck to all.

They will never admit that LSU is better even though the will clearly be after a 2nd win. They will probably use the excuse that "it is a home game" for LSU.

Someone in the local newspaper made a very good point about the BCS Championship. It's been talked about on Covers but I never hears it make as much sense as I heard it come from this person:
"Is it fair that LSU has to beat Alabama twice to win the national championship but Alabama only has to beat LSU once?"

is it fair if the milwaukee brewers had a better regular season winning record vs st louis cardinals head to head. but in the playoffs st louis won the series against milwaukee in nlcs, so should they make the series best of 14 games instead?
what about green bay, they lost 1 game to chicago last year in regular season didnt they? so is it fair the packers won their 3 playoff games including the nfc title in chicago, to make super bowl. or do bears deserve 1 more game too to try to win?
point is it not bama fault they are in same division as lsu, and no other teams this year deserve a shot at a national title besides lsu and bama. i mean there is no great 3rd place team that has a legit argument they should be in over bama.
if lsu wins closely in that game my guess is bama gets the bcs title, and lsu will win the ap poll

no reason to think bama is gonna get blown out in this game, this is a 50 50 coinflip, do you watch sec in bc, or watch hockey?? alot of people turn the last lsu bama game off tv cause they are stupid and dont like defense. but these are clearly the 2 best teams in the country. it iwll be hard for either team to score td in this game, playing 1 time already this year should help though
i see a 1 score game here either way more than likely. doubt neither team gets blown out
any one that says lsu won the first game easily too is nuts, if bama didnt get int on the lsu 1 yard line bama would of had a td, and that was a sketchy fuckin play if you look at it on replay, other refs may of called it a catch for the receiver.

You just used the example of a Baseball team and then sports that have playoffs, the opposite purpose of the BCS. Which has a regular season, and LSU beat the team in their division, ON THE ROAD. Won their division and an extra Conference Championship game. Period

Given the way the first game played out (essentially a coin flip to determine an overtime winner and too bad Alabama failed to win THAT) which EVER team wins the game will deserve and quite obviously be voted champion...pretty much end of story

Is it fair? lol Is it fair that the Braves win the regular season almost every year in baseball, then lose in the playoffs? cmon man-Listen to the herd- on espn

People can bitch and cry about what is fair all the want, the fact of the matter is, is that the BCS picked the two best teams in the nation to play each other.
If LSU wins that game, they will be BCS Champions, and if Bama wins they will be the BCS champions, and there will be no disputing either case.
The only reason Bama fans talk so much right now is because everyone knows that Bama out played LSU in that game. Sure LSU ran the ball better, and they had better special teams, and made some better coaching decisions. But if you really watch that game Bama had better balance with their drives, they never got one dimensional, and they left about 13 points on the field, that LSU didn't. LSU is the better team right now, no doubt about it, but they weren't the better team that night, and a lot of people capping that game are looking at that so that they can make a determination on who to bet.

Are those ppl capping the same seeing that Alabamas offense didn't cross midfield once in the 2nd half. Alabama outplayed LSU in the 1st half with a roll reversal in the 2nd. LSU obviously had the advantage in OT when all Bama did was go backwards.

The better question is after Alabam out-plays LSU for the second time and wins the BSC national championship game, will LSU fans admit that Alabama is the better team? Or will we have to listen to them pathetically whine for the next 5 years about how LSU deserved a split championship because (enter the excuse du jour here)?

Really? We had 24 plays for 117 yards compared to LSU's 33 plays for 110. We also made it past the 50 on the drive where Maze threw the pick, and we made it to the 50 on another drive. Also, before the Maze pick drive there was a 30 yard drive that ended in an AJ pick.

To win the BCS national championship, you have to win the BSC national championship game. If you don't win that game, you are NOT the BCS national champion.
I get that you feel the rules should be changed at 11th hour, and that we should forego playing the BCS championship game this season because of your personal feelings towards LSU. Fortunately, however, the people who run college football have more sense than that.

Alabama wins 17-10. I dont see how someone can watch that first game and feel good as an LSU fan. They were handed that football game. Not to mention there will not be any surprise quarterbacks coming out from behind the curtain WWF style, this time, LSU has to play against a team that has prepared for their QB.

Reading comprehension is your friend, I said Alabamas offense. They did not cross midfield in the 2nd half. Alabama was on LSUs half 1 time in the 2nd half off of an interception by Lee.
But now you want to look at stats and not the game. Typical and interesting at the same time.

Winner take all, period.
But if the roles were reversed and Bama lost the NC game they would have their 15 NC from the AP.

All these points on both sides are valid. But one arguement i hate to hear is that Bama wasn't prepared for JJ. That's total bullshit. Who was the QB that beat Bama last year? That would be J Jefferson. The last several games before the Bama game JJ recieved more and more playing time. Alabama knew that JJ would play in that game. For whatever reason they have a much harder time defending LSU when he plays. Probably because they have a hard time defending the option(huge LB's who aren't quit as fast to the edge gives LSU the advantage when running the option.) Anyway, i doubt any Bama fans on here will admit LSU is better no matter what the result of the game. On the other hand, myself and LSUeddie are the only LSU homers i see on this site consistantly and i will admit Bama is the better team if they win on Jan 9th. The only way i would remotely consider a split title if LSU loses is if they outgain Bama by 100+ yds, dominate the game and lose on a hail mary. Other than that scenario, if the game is close and Bama wins or if Bama runs away with it, i will gladly call them the better team.

Bama went 4-7 in 1997 and is still trying to figure out a way to claim a national title for it. Frankly, it would be more legitimate than several of the others claimed by the Tide.

Wrong again...In the 4th quarter after LSU made the FG off the AJ interception late in the 3rd, we drove to the LSU 28 from our own 23. That drive started from a kickoff.
We also had a 30 yard drive after that from our own 19 that ended with a punt at our own 49.
The AJ interception drive started at our 11, and ended at our 41. That was mid/late 3rd quarter.

That was the game plan for last season... This season's defense had an entirely different game plan, that mainly focused on Lee. We see how well that worked... We had no idea that JJ would play most of that game. How would we, seeing as how he hadn't started yet at that point during the season, and he was rarely used. Why game plan for something that rarely happens? So to assume that we had this plan that failed, is quite wrong sir.

Was Georgia Southerns offense a rarity as well?

Really? Who told you that... I certainly didn't know... It's funny how people focus all that attention about claiming titles that shouldn't be claimed on Bama, when ND is just as bad about that. Most big traditional programs do claim titles that weren't theirs to claim, because of the human factor in those days.
In 1966, Alabama was undefeated and destroyed Nebraska in the Orange bowl. Notre Dame was voted #1 that year after they intentionally tied Mich.State. Notre Dame didn't go to a bowl and Alabama ended the year #3 behind two teams with a tie on their record while Alabama had a perfect record.
