I've spoken to officals over the years about this, both pro and college. They seem to have decided in the last decade that if your toe hits first, but then the heel land out of bounds, like it did on that play, it's incomplete. Back in the 90's they would give you that call though, depending on the official calling it. It's weird because the rulebook was never clear on it in the past. It might be now, but it might not be.
Anyway, ARUKIDNME saw the same thing I did. I believe he bobbled the ball as he hit the turf anyway. So the call was correct no matter how you look at it. I think lol.
